The whitenose shark, Nasolamia velox, the only member of the genus Nasolamia, is a shark of the family Carcharhinidae, found in the tropical waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean between latitudes 31° N and 18° S, from depths of 15 to 200 m. Its length is up to about 1.5 m.
The whitenose shark is found both inshore and offshore on the continental shelves, feeding on small bony fish, including anchovies, and crabs.
It is not known to have attacked people.
It is utilized fresh and frozen for human consumption and processed for fishmeal.
It is viviparous, with 5 young in a litter, the size at birth being about 53 cm.
