The 1998 Auckland local elections were part of the 1998 New Zealand local elections, to elect members to sub-national councils and boards. The Auckland elections covered one regional council (the Auckland Regional Council), city council, health board, and various local boards and licensing trusts. The polling was conducted using the standard first-past-the-post electoral method.
Auckland City Council
[edit]The Auckland City Council consisted of a mayor and nineteen councillors elected from seven wards (Avondale-Roskill, Balmoral, Eastern Bays, Hauraki Gulf Islands, Hobson, Penrose and Western Bays).[1]
