Dikeji Daniel Miyerijesu

Dikeji Daniel Miyerijesu (born 21 January 1948),[1] also known as Saint Dikeji Daniel Miyerijesu, is a Nigerian televangelist and founding bishop of God's Grace Ministry headquartered in Warri, Delta State.[2] He started G.G.M on 5 November 1993.[2] He is known all over the world "for his consistent passion for preaching and promoting the virtues of holiness through the undiluted word of God, winning souls for Christ and bringing salvation to the world".[1]

According to Sahara Reporters, Miyerijesu "went around some Urhobo villages and hamlets and razed to the ground their native shrines".[3] He has been criticized for "burning local traditional shrines and destroying not only the emblems of traditional spirituality but the art works in the forms of figures and sculptures".[4] He has also been criticized for calling himself "The Bishop of the Whole World".[3]

Ministry

[edit]

Miyerijesu, formerly known as Mimeyeraye, was one of the religious figures in the Anglican Diocese of Warri,[3] who started the Anglican Mimeyeraye Praying and Fasting Society when he was there.[5]

After he moved out of the St. James Anglican Church at Ojabugbe Street in Warri, Miyerijesu by divine leading started the God's Grace Ministry with its headquarters at 58 Arubayi Street, Okumagba Layout also in Warri.[2] In an effort to prepare people for heaven, Miyerijesu runs an evangelistic Christian ministry with programs on both television and radio called "Moment of Decision" featured on the cable network stations and local stations.[2]

He usually appears in a wine-colored bishop's robe and a skull cap, and the main theme of his preaching is repentance and renunciation of idolatry.[3] Following in the footsteps of Cornelius Adam Igbudu of the Anglican Adam Preaching Society, he is credited with healing the sick and raising the dead.[6]

In January 2018, Miyerijesu's 70th birthday was celebrated in a grand style, and his church members were said to have offered him a 2018 Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle as a gift.[7][8]
