Joseph Gitler

Joseph Gitler is an American who is known as the founder of Leket Israel.

Biography

Gitler grew up in New York.[1] He got married and later moved to Israel in 1999–2000.[a][2] In 2003, after seeing a lot of food wasted in Israel, Gitler founded Leket Israel, which became "Israel's largest food rescue organization."[3] He has been often honored for "his work for the benefit of Israel’s needy."[3] In 2014, he received the Nefesh B’Nefesh Bonei Zion Prize for Community and Non Profit.[3]
