could someone add toast sandwich to the template? I started Template:Toast sandwich for you and Template:WikiLove-toast sandwich, and would love to see the sandwich on there.-🐦Do☭torWho42 (⭐) 07:38, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- Not done for now: Please provide the exact code to be inserted — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:01, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
- @MSGJ: I hope this code is sufficient for its addition to the already lovely WikiLove list: -🐦Do☭torWho42 (⭐) 03:45, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
// Adding toast sandwich to food options $.wikiLoveOptions.types.food.subtypes.toast.sandwich = { fields: [ 'header', 'message' ], option: 'Toast sandwich', descr: 'Toast sandwiches are made by putting a thin slice of toast 🔥🍞 between two thin slices of bread 🍞 🍞 with a layer of [[butter]], and adding salt and pepper to taste. 👅 Its origins can be traced to the [[Victorian era|Victorian]] years.', header: 'A toast sandwich for you!', image: 'An image of a toast sandwich, shot from the side.jpg', imageSize: '120px' };
- @MSGJ: is the above code correct or no?-🐦Do☭torWho42 (⭐) 22:05, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Seems to be working, but perhaps we can remove the funny symbols 🔥🍞👅 because you can't see them clearly anyway. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:43, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, agreed — given that they don't work on all screens. Also: wiki-links as they're missing from the other WikiLove options too.-🐦Do☭torWho42 (⭐) 19:56, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Done. I can see them on my home computer, but at work they are looked the same. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:49, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Deleting goats
[edit]This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
A while back some people added goats to WikiLove during the goatification craze of 2017. While I love goats just as much as anyone else (within healthy limits), I fear that their inclusion is reducing the use of the kittens option, which scientific studies have shown are most effective at increasing fine-motor dexterity[1] and attentional focus,[2] both of which contribute to productive Wikipedia editing. Leaving a goat on someone's page, while it may evoke temporarily feelings of joy, euphoria, or confusion, doesn't have as much of a lasting positive impact on the viewer. As such, I'm asking to add the following line to MediaWiki:WikiLove.js:
delete $.wikiLoveOptions.types.goat;
Respectfully, Kaldari (talk) 20:46, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- This is one wild balance of serious and unserious! I think I'd support this, but it'd be good to have some level of discussion on the removal (even if the addition was somewhat undiscussed). ~ Amory (u • t • c) 18:34, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- On hold I left a discussion notice at the related wikiproject, Wikipedia talk:Department of Fun. Short hold to see if they have any comment. — xaosflux Talk 00:51, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Holding pending consensus. — xaosflux Talk 17:43, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- The goats were added to the extension at phab:T173187, rather than just here on enwiki via sitewide JavaScript. The same reasons provided here also apply to adding goats on other wikis, and thus I would suggest removing from the extension altogether, or leaving them in, but not removing them locally like this. DannyS712 (talk) 04:09, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- {{not done}} due to disagreement above; phab is probably a better choice too. — xaosflux Talk 00:39, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Kaldari: if you choose to pursue this further on phab, please add me to the relevant task/gerrit patch, happy to review and merge if there are no objections from others DannyS712 (talk) 05:46, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- @DannyS712 and Xaosflux: I already tried the gerrit patch route, which was rejected.[3] WikiLove is intended to be fully-customizable for each wiki, and while goats may hold a special place in the hearts of German or Dutch Wikipedians, I don't think they hold quite the same appeal for the English-speaking world, probably due to their negative portrayal in Disney movies.[4] I think it should be left up to the English Wikipedia community whether or not they want to express their love via goats, rather than leaving it to the whims of a few goat-obsessed developers. Kaldari (talk) 16:23, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Kaldari: I cross posted at Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous) to see if anyone else has an opinion (maybe someone loves goats afterall!). Normally I wouldn't want more javascript hacks to remove functions, but as this page is already running the same bundled .js I'm not worried about that part. — xaosflux Talk 16:50, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with doing this locally, for exactly this reason. We've added other customizations here, I don't see a reason not to on this (if that is, indeed, the desire). Indeed, if it's desirable elsewhere, we should customize it locally rather than impose our will elsewhere. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 17:28, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

- What works best for me is food. I consider goats (sensitive vegetarians please look away now) to be potental food, but (you can look back now) not kittens, so would prefer to be given a goat. Phil Bridger (talk) 17:34, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- This is the first I'm hearing about goatification. Seems like a noble initiative! I'm in favor of de-quirkification when the quirks are doing some harm, but I'm not persuaded that's the case here, so I'm down to keep them. If it sends someone down the goatification rabbit hole, that's a plus. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 00:08, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose the heavy boot of the catriarchy and embrace a goatified tomorrow. Can you milk cats? Do cats provide fibers and textiles for Brooklyn hipsters? Can they methodically clear unwanted vegetation? Do they comically faint when scared? There should be a place in this world for both cats and goats. Hircine and caprine are right on the cusp of being household words. -- Fuzheado | Talk 16:21, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- Support the deletion of all goats IFF they are immediately replaced by rabbits. Goats are creepy headbutters with disturbingly rectangular pupils that evoke LaVeyan Satanism. Meanwhile, rabbits are affectionate, have fluffy ears, and occasionally binky. gobonobo + c 11:39, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

Would like to add the following:
$.wikiLoveOptions.types.barnstar.subtypes.bahnstar = { fields: [ 'header', 'message' ], // fields to ask for in form option: 'Bahnstar', // option listed in the select list descr: 'For those times when an attempt was made... and failed (but appreciated anyway).', header: 'The Bahn Star', // header that appears at the top of the talk page post (optional) image: 'Bahnstar.png', // image for the item imageSize: '120px' // size to display image (optional) }

- User:MSGJ Was wondering if you might be willing to add this :) Yitz (talk) 10:13, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- Not done @Yitzilitt: this is a very widely used script, adding a new item should be discussed and gain consensus first. Based on the file usage for this file, this is rarely used. A good place to start would be at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikipedia Awards - and in first getting it even included on the awards index. — xaosflux Talk 10:39, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
