Montanelia is a genus of lichenized fungi belonging to the family Parmeliaceae.[1] It was circumscribed by Pradeep K. Divakar, Ana Crespo, Mats Wedin, and Theodore L. Esslinger in 2012 to accommodate a group of five species previously assigned to the genus Melanelia.[2]

The genus has almost cosmopolitan distribution.[1]
