Relevance
[edit]Is this encyclopaedic material? IMHO a short text about the upcoming election in the article about the municipality, or another related article, should be enough. // habj 07:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- Um no, Guelph is a sizable enough city to warrant an election page. -- Earl Andrew - talk 07:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- The question is how much detail is relevant. // habj 10:00, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- If anything, this article could use more relavent information. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:23, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Election Resource Links - neutral only?
[edit]Just so that we have the consensus of more than one editor here, is it proper to restrict the "Resources" section to just neutral links? Andy Saunders 11:16, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- It depends on what you mean by "neutral". Is the Chamber of Commerce neutral? Is the Guelph Students Association neutral? I support including "subjective" websites, such as the ones opposing Kate Quarrie and Dan Schnurr, in the appropriate candidate section since they provide additional information about the municipal election. Similarly, I would include election-focused websites from groups such as Guelph Alert, Concerned Citizens of Guelph and the Guelph and District Labour Council even though they may endorse specific candidates.
- As for candidate photos, would an image that appears on a candidate's website be considered "public domain" or "fair use"? What about photos of city councillors from the City of Guelph website? The page looks rather barren right now.Krago 01:42, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- I've split the External links section into two parts, one for neutral websites and another for critical ones -- see the "Lou Dobbs" article for another example. I hope this will resolve the issue and put an end to the constant deleting/restoring of some links.Krago 15:56, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Leannepiper.jpg
[edit]Image:Leannepiper.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
