There are lots of different wrenches that can be called "sink wrenches". You will find this one in tool catalogs as a BASIN WRENCH.
Professional plumbers also call it a BASIN WRENCH. Sink wrenches are a category, that includes this and this and this and this, all of which are wrenches designed specifically for sink plumbing.
Try this experiment: 1) Google images for "sink wrench" - you get a whole lot of different stuff, including about 40% the wrench on this page 2) Google "basin wrench" instead - 90+ percent of the images are of this wrench. Most of the rest are of a different form of the same tool (looks like an orange split pipe).
Therefore, it's called a basin wrench. If you want Wikipedia to have a page for sink wrenches, it should be a category page.
Similarly, there are many kinds of pipe wrench, but only one Stillson wrench. I'll go hit that page too.
- Yes, "basin wrench" is the common name for this tool. I renamed the article accordingly. Lambtron (talk) 00:13, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
