Release links
[edit]I removed the link to release 1.0 (obsolete). Also, if there's a release history, it should only contain relevant versions (major builds at least). AxiomShell 10:06, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
After I wrote the article I saw the deletion log. I realize writing a new article may not have been wise, however CakePHP appears to be a wanted article. I do not know what the article contained before, but CakePHP is not a manual for PHP any more than say, Mambo or MediaWiki for that matter. --Phil Harnish (Info | Talk) 05:28, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
I agree. As someone learning about web technlogies, I found this artice helpful. It could certainly be improved upon (and maybe after i learn more I'll come back and do that) but an article here on CakePHP can serve to put the technolgy into context in a way that other sources of information do not. I don't see what the problem is with the feature list. These are features one would be wondering about.--Cynthiaishere 03:13, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I can provide the archive with the first public release of Cake (0.2.0) if anyone wants it for reasons of pedantry :) It was released under Public Domain btw, although that had soon changed when other people got involved. --Pies (talk) 17:14, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
NPoV; citations needed
[edit]"Application Scaffolding"? Googling it gives few results (~500), most of which are biased. Is that a term invented by CakePHP developers? How NPoV is this point? Perhaps create Application scaffolding first before using it? It's not even clear to me what it's supposed to mean. --dionyziz 18:21, 31 March 2007 (UTC).
- Removing from points. Please feel free to readd, but include some kind of explanation! --dionyziz 08:47, 23 April 2007 (UTC).
- Readding with citation --dionyziz 08:57, 23 April 2007 (UTC).
- Scaffolding is a term used in Ruby on Rails for a sort of boilerplate program design (think of the scaffolding one puts up when working on a building then takes down later). If it is appropriate to say that cakePHP is "based on rails", then it should be equally appropriate to use Rails terminology to describe features it allegedly borrowed TheBilly (talk) 12:52, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
CakePHP Command Line Interface
[edit]CakePHP offers a CLI, or Command Line Interface for quickly performing, automating and scripting various tasks. Possibly the most obvious is the "bake" activity for the creation of Models, Controllers and Views. CakePHP's Access Control List component is accessible via the CLI. A developer can also write their own "shells" which can interact directly with their application's Model and Controllers. An example use-case for this would be the scheduled update of the application's data from an RSS or other data feed, with the full power of the application logic and data relationships created with CakePHP. I think some information about this would be a worthy addition to this article, and am just commenting to get feedback prior to editing PeteOtaqui (talk) 01:27, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- I vote "Yes" to the above proposal New Thought (talk) 19:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
