Untitled
[edit]Also of note in the illustrious career of "Crazy Legs" Hirsch is his appearance as the co-pilot in the aiplane drama "Zero Hour." "Zero Hour" was the inspiration for the knockoff "Airplane" which is take word from word from "Zero Hour."
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the co-pilot in "Airplane" keeping with the jock tradition of Elroy Hirsch. The role was supposed to go to Pete Rose, but since "Airplane" was filmed in the summer, Rose was still playing (and betting?) and unable to star in that great movie.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.143.228.134 (talk) 03:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Nickname
[edit]I changed "Crazy Legs" to "Crazylegs" where it appeared - the article uses the two interchangably, but both the UW Badgers website and the Pro Football HoF list his nickname as the single word. Most importantly, in his own event - the Crazylegs classic - he himself uses the single word version. --Chancemichaels 03:51, 19 October 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels

LENGTH THAT HIS RECEIVING YARDS RECORD HELD
[edit]If I am not mistaken, he held the NFL record for receiving yards in a season for 33 seasons (the article indicates 19). If you ignore AFL records, then no one in the NFL surpassed his 1951 record of 1,495 yard until St. Louis's Roy Green in 1984 who went for 1,550 (in a 16 game format). If you do include AFL statistics (which the NFL agreed to do as part of the merger agreement) then it only held for ten years (Charlie Hennigan had 1,700+ in 1961). Also, his 17 touchdowns from that season wasn't surpassed until 1984 as well when Mark Clayton caught 18. Finally, his yards/game that season rate 3rd all time - a stat that balances out the fact that he played in 12 game seasons will later players played in 14 or 16 game seasons.
