Planned Revisions: Introduction

[edit]

Hi! I am planning the following revisions on this page:

  • More contextual information of what fecundity selection is, and how it differs from other selections
  • Add evidence for fecundity selection in literature
  • Minor deletions in sentences that are incomplete/awkward
  • Adding sections regarding history, consensus in literature, and what animals exhibit this type of selection
  • Adding more graphics

Is fertility selection and fecundity selection the same?

[edit]

According to Holsinger (2013), fertility selection depends on the genotype of both male and female; fecundity selection is related only to differences among females; while virility selection is related only to differences among males. However, I don't see this distinction elsewhere. (Holsinger, K. E. Theory of Selection in Populations. In J. B. Losos (Ed.), The Princeton Guide to Evolution.
