Section headings for describing the evolving technologies
[edit]Another editor recently divided the (formerly) "Power plants" section into two parts, one for operational and one for planned units. I have no problem with that change and think it likely clarified the article. However, I just learned yesterday, in an article published only last month (Sep 2009), that the "Blue H" prototype unit completed its year of testing and data gathering and was decommissioned in late 2008. Additional units, of >2 MW capacity turbines, will not begin to be installed there in the Adriatic until 2010. So my question is, is it correct to leave Blue H in the "Operational..." section, since it has, historically, had an operational unit in deep water. (this is how I have temporarily left it; but I'm not sure this is quite right.) Or should we possibly use an entirely different taxonomy of section headings? Or something else where we keep the existing headings but move Blue H? Other editors please weigh in. Let's see if we can develop a proposal and consensus on the Talk page before we potentially all begin to take the article different ways. Cheers. N2e (talk) 20:03, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- The heading you chose and the extra text you added both look good to me. However, the "Plans" heading I added is rather vague (maybe Announced, Concepts, Patents, or Agreements?) so here are alternatives that I wouldn't object to (the current headings are first in bold, which I still mildly prefer).
- Operational deep-water platforms, Plans
- Operational, Under construction, Announced, Out of commission
- Connected to grid, Installed prototypes, Announced
- Connected to grid, Installed prototypes, Concepts
- I suppose Blue H Technologies would then move to "Under construction" or "Installed prototypes". "Nautica Windpower" would move to "Concepts" (I could not find any announcement plan for this, but they do appear as a collaborator in this request for OHIO research funds).
