lanthanum carbide ina bucky jar

[edit]

The wellesley college reference [1] is incorrect- the web site just says bucky jar with lanthanum carbide in it discovered 1993. I can't fins a ref to this only similar papers --Axiosaurus (talk) 15:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have come back to this article- it is very confused. Firstly the carbide LaC2 with C2 units which can be written as LaIIIC2 (e-) where an electron enters the conduction band which is probably close to the anti-bonding pi orbital on the C22- ion. Secondly there is the La@C72 "compound" - basically an La atom in a fullerene cage. It looks like accounts of both materials have been mixed up and some possible errors in transcribing the experimental data made. I will come back to this soon - when real life permitsAxiosaurus (talk) 16:26, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Tidied it up- restructured and added a little new material Axiosaurus (talk) 17:30, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
