Working Will aim to have this review posted today. Grondemar 18:20, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In general this article appears to be well-written; I have copyedited it in general and now believe the prose quality is sufficient. However, I have several concerns that would need to be addressed before I would be willing to pass it as a Good Article:

  • I agree with the note earlier on the talk page, that this article could really use a picture. I'd suggest contacting the subject through her website or maybe Facebook profile to see if she'd be willing to donate one. However, the lack of pictures will not disqualify this article from GA status.
I've contacted her agent, Marissa Nilon from Wasserman Media Group, LLC, but she said she was running into copyright issues.68.5.214.41 (talk) 20:29, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • At least one of the web sources appear to have gone dead; this is why I strongly recommend using [www.webcitation.org WebCite] for all web sources. Can you see if you can find a replacement?

  • In the Personal section: "Soni was born in Plainsboro Township, New Jersey in 1987..." according to the USA Swimming bio linked in the External links section, Soni was born in Freehold, NJ. Please review and verify.
I'm changing it to Freehold. Her college bio link says Plainsboro, however, the official USA Swimming bio says Freehold, NJ. I'm going by that. Her Twitter and Facebook page had no verification of birthplace.68.5.214.41 (talk) 20:29, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • "In a June 2010 interview, Soni admitted that she was dating fellow American swimmer Ricky Berens." this needs a citation. It is not mentioned in the source that covers the next sentence.
I'm just removing that sentence. I couldn't find a reference and I believe it's silly to have that in her biography.68.5.214.41 (talk) 20:29, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Early career section: "However, Soni was not in top condition for the 2006 season because she had open heart surgery to remove scar tissue." Is there a way to get more information on this? Open heart surgery is generally a very significant part of a person's life; it would be desirable not to insert this fact into the narrative backwards like this.
 Done Adjusted and added more information.68.5.214.41 (talk) 01:52, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • 2008 Summer Olympics: "At the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials... [i]n the 100 m breaststroke, Soni finished fourth in a time of 1:07.80. However, she was chosen to swim the event in Beijing after Jessica Hardy withdrew from the team..." it would be good to add clarification that x number of finishers qualified (I presume top 3?). Also, I commented out the section about why Jessica Hardy withdrew from the Olympics since it isn't substantiated by a provided source; leaving it in would be a WP:BLP violation. You can restore if you can provide a source.

  • Thanks for making the sentence clearer; I tried to clean it up further. However, we still need a citation for Hardy withdrawing from the team, Kirk missing the entry deadline, and the fact that Soni's time was the fastest since the beginning of 2006. Grondemar 19:05, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done Added references for all three of those items.Philipmj24 (talk) 16:49, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thanks! Grondemar 04:02, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reference 24 does not link to a New York Times article; it instead links to Swimming World Magazine. The linked article does not verify the quote.
 Done Fixed. 68.5.214.41 (talk) 20:42, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Everything looks good except for one issue regarding the 2008 Olympic qualification. I'll be willing to pass this article as a good article once this issue is cleared up. Grondemar 19:05, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
With all concerns addressed, I will pass this GAN. Congratulations! Grondemar 04:02, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
