Southborough is a suburb now, and not just of Boston but of other municipalities as well. When Warner Oland lived there is was largely a farming community. Warner Oland was joking when he said 'Mongolian' and that is a common joke made at the time. The joke had a dark undertone as he avoided the racism for having native ancestry. The truth is that he was not entirely Swedish but ixed Scandinavian & Lappish = Sami. What I know I am not a relative of Oland myself, but I am a good friend of several relative/descendants of Warner Oland.
