Aplerbeck
[edit]... that, when Aplerbeck was industrialised (pictured), it needed a larger church?

On it.
Apparently barely new enough [created 4 Jan, nominated 11 Jan]; long enough [2.2k elig. chars.]; no English copyvio; I'm not usually a stickler for the one-cite-per-paragraph rule so (e.g.) I have no real problem with the mining and railway paragraph [You could make sticklers happy, e.g., by merging the paragraphs but that's silly since there are links to German or English pages to corroborate the points being made] but you do need a source for the Jewish sterilization and execution statistics; there's also no source for industrialization being the motivation for a larger church [i.e., the hook]; QPQ done; image seems to have issues: as far as I can tell, it must have the sample attribution below it and is ineligible for DYK. Removed from nom and hook. If that makes the hook too bland, maybe use the Ewalds story, psych clinic, or Holocaust statistics. In any case, have a good vacation =) but try to find some sources before the admins nix the nomination and let me know when to come back and look at them. — LlywelynII 13:54, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- What's wrong with the image license? - On vacation, will need more time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:09, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- I can wait if they can. I know you'll be good for it. As far as the image, it's explicitly not in the public domain and I've never seen one get passed that requires immediate attribution (taken by Bob with an XYZ license) in the front-page caption, which seems to be what the church pic's uploader wants. [No, there's nothing like that on the Aplerbeck page and I frankly don't mind until the uploader comes by to complain about that, but it still doesn't seem to work here for DYK.] — LlywelynII 05:31, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that Aplerbeck, temporarily industrialised (pictured) and now part of Dortmund, is associated with two legendary martyrs and a regional psychiatric clinic founded in 1890?
- LlywelynII, what do you think? You don't see details on the image, but it's unusual, and shows the place in the background. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:38, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- Well, the picture is in the public domain, is clear enough, and is now being used on the page, so it's fine. The hook seems a little kitchen-sinky, but if you want to use it all then there's nothing wrong with it apart from some punctuation and WP:TERSE issues. [Fixt.] The article doesn't mention that it was a provincial psych hospital (the Ruhr area covers several states, right?), although I think I remember the source doing so. It also doesn't mention all of the industry being temporary, although industrialization occurred and the major mill shut down; is it rural now? Are you sure you want to include the other links in the hook? It's just reducing the views for your page. — LlywelynII 13:20, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for looking again. The Hütte was the one and only heavy industry (see picture). To my understanding, it's now mainly a Schlafstadt (sleep town) for Dortmund, - people live there, but work somewhere else. Plenty of green, see pics on the commons, - but none good enough for a lead image, sadly. - There's much much much more in German, but for the limited interest of the English reader ... - The Ruhr area is in North Rhine-Westphalia now, but that didn't exist until after World War II. The Prussians had provinces, which is in the name "Westfälische Provinzial-Heilanstalt Aplerbeck", - we could also say "regional". - I don't mind extra links after the first, and it will not make the stats anyway ;) - A quirky hook would be that "you seem to come from Aplerbeck" is equivalent to questioning someones thinking. OR. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:48, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- Cites needed above added; included (pictured) back in the first hook; emended "provincial" to "regional", so everything's sorted: my option is ALT0 since ALT1 is a little cluttered, but it's sourced and the promoter can use it instead if s/he feels ALT0 is too plain. — LlywelynII 09:45, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, but striking ALT0, which makes no sense without the church image. We'll get back to that when I'll write about the church. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:08, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
