The upcoming ninth worldwide concert tour by American singer Madonna to promote her twelfth studio album, MDNA will begin on May 29, 2012. This will be Madonna's second tour under her long-term multi-rights deal with promoter, Live Nation Entertainment. The announcement came from Billboard on February 7, 2012, after the singer's performance at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show.[1]
Background
[edit]On Febuary 07, 2012, Madonna had performed at the Super Bowl XLVI. She had performed her hits including "Vogue", "Give Me All Your Luvin'", "Express Yourself", "Open Your Heart", "Music" and "Like a Prayer". The same day after the finishing off the night, Billboard announced she would start off with a world tour, for the promotion of her studio album MDNA. On Febuary 08, 2011, Madonna had posted via her website that she had announced half off the world tour dates. The tour would start in Israel, until new dates have confirmed the finishing. Two official tour trailers were released by Live Nation Entertainment on Youtube.[2]
New Zealand and Live Nation document controversy
[edit]Before any off this had arosed for the tour, a document was sent to one of madonna's fansite. According to them, they had said they were sent an email from an unconfirmed insider. After the release, the tour photo was released online worldwide and was highly publicized in media outlets, announcing that the world tour would start in Auckland, New Zealand on March 21, 2012. Then they said that she would continue to Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Asia, Europe then finishing in the United States.[3][4]
However, it was then confirmed by the New Zealand Herald that her publicist Liz Rosenberg announced that the tour document was completely "rubbish" and "fake".[5] She also confirmed that the rest of the shows were fake. This showed many dissapointments to fans, mostly New Zealand fans, because she has not toured in the country before, along with a 20 year hiatus from Australia. However, according to Stuff.co.nz, then there were allegations that they're have been talks about the tour for Australia and New Zealand, but there were reports of an negotiation were under going, which was reported by Paul Brewer.[6]
However, it was then rumored in several occasions that New Zealand will not be featured in the tour, as it was announced on her website that she would tour Australia again but not including New Zealand.[7][8] However, until official statements have been announced, the tourlist for New Zealand are currently unavailable.
Then Madonna announced that she would tour in North America and Europe. She did say that she would tour Australia and South America.
