TOC

Forcing a TOC to be generated

With fewer than 4 headings, no auto TOC so use __FORCETOC__ or __TOC__

Help:TOC

Using __FORCETOC__ places the TOC immediately before the first section heading. Using __TOC__ places the TOC at the same position as this code.

Automatic TOC

From mw:Template:TOC we get this:

1. Articles will include a default table of contents when more than three section headings appear.

2. The default table of contents will include all section headings and will appear just before the first section heading.

Now for the actual contents that will get a TOC because there are > 3 section headings:

Template:Tlx is used to show example template usage without expanding the template itself.

{{Tlx}} is a generalization of {{tl}}, {{tlp}} etc., with output that is arguably more legible.

tl produces: {{tl}}

tlx produces: {{tl}}

tlxb produces: {{tlxb}}

{{tlb}}, a version of {{tl}} where the template name is shown in bold. tlxb does the same for tlx.

This Cite EB1911 template requires a title parameter: title= or wstitle= to associate the source of the text being used with a specific part of the massive encyclopaedia from which it is copied or paraphrased. More information on these and other parameters are set out below. In the absence of a title parameter being supplied, the template will display the error message article name needed and set a category flagging that no article name has been given: Public Domain This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domainChisholm, Hugh, ed. If you don't use Cite you get a slew of text: "This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domain":

Fixing problem with text

[edit]

Sometimes the text breaks and appears at the bottom of the image:

carnivorous Darlingtonia californica, Cobra Lily or California Pitcher plant
(See Sarraceniaceae).

To fix this, insert "left" after the image. Then add the clear after the image.
