If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 10:50, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

The problem is you had a weak FUR although the Music Video is covered in detail in the original article. I've done a quick fix to explain that the FU Image illustrates the prose; can you add more meat to the bones of that FUR. Thanks Archivey (talk) 19:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of File:Martyn Ware2007.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Martyn Ware2007.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

picture taken from flicker which licence are in compatible to wikipedia

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:File:Martyn Ware2007.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Musamies (talk) 02:21, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:Hlawvid.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Thanks for uploading File:New romantic girl poster.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Need to properly release File:Joandsus.JPG

Hi Andi064

I was looking through the Human League related articles and found the above image. As you are not the rights holder for the image you cannot release it under the license you have used for its use on Wikipedia. I can see that you have uploaded a number of clearly private images and there is always going to be a risk of someone challenging their use on the project without correct attributions and releases. The way to get round that is for the rights holder to formally confirm the terms of the images release for use in wikipedia. Because of the privacy concerns of e-mail addresses and such like, we do not do this on-wiki but run a private ticket response system (OTRS) to handle this work. Instructions for doing this are all contained at Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials. It would be OK to submit one e-mail detailsing all the copyrighted and private images you have uploaded and the same ticket can be used for all of them. An OTRS volunteer will then tag the images to confirm that the images have been properly released and attributed. Thank you for taking the time to secure and upload these images. I'm sorry for the extra work I am requesting but my aim is to ensure that we can continue to keep the images and that there is no chance of their use being challenged later on. • um. there wasn't any need to summarily delete the image. Spartaz Humbug! 17:27, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
  • The reason I {db-self} the image is because, you correctly pointed out that it needed the copyright holder Ms Catherall's release on Wikipedia. I take licensing seriously and as it was an old image, wasnt really doing much, I didnt feel it was worth bothering the copyright holder over. I removed it to save the hassle of an IFD debate over an image that wasnt really needed anymore.andi064 T . C 18:41, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

All I Ever Wanted

Hi
Concerning your edit summary "Rm non wiki entries. Song must have a wiki article to be on disamb page" at All I Ever Wanted, where does it say that? I don't recall ever reading that, and would find such a guideline really bad – looking up a notable album or artist through the song name seems like a useful thing. In fact, at least one example at WP:MOSDAB uses a song without an aritcle, and I find nothing on WP:MUSTARD discouraging it either.
Cheers, Amalthea 14:15, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I will add the song back to the DAB page since I haven't heard back from you.
Hmm, and I notice the message from below, and very much hope that you will return at some point! Cheers, Amalthea 17:31, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Your comment on the DRV

Hi Andi064, after seeing this comment on the current image DRV I am concerned that you are taking the fate of one image far too much to heart. You are a valuable contributor and it would be sad to see you leave over interpretation of image policy. If you have issue with what I do on the site, drop me a note and discuss it—you will find that I am open to criticism and reasonable to discuss with. - Peripitus (Talk) 02:16, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Marsheaux2.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Marsheaux2.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 20:21, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
