Hello Dara/Archive1 and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Please do NOT post nonsense to Wikipedia. - Lucky 6.9 01:22, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Please ignore Lucky 6.9, Dara - I know you don't post nonsense to the Wikipedia. I saw your edit on Cambodian new year [1] which is the same day in which this Lucky 6.9 person posted this message. Keep up your excellent work... And please next time, if you want to move an article use the 'Move' button and not copy and paste the article into a new article... Squash 04:39, Nov 13, 2004 (UTC)

Khmer alphabet

[edit]

Thank you for expanding and enhancing the Khmer alphabet page. I'll begin porting it to the german Wikipedia once you are done.

Let me just point out two and a half point:

  • Please minimize the number "saves" during a long edit session, use "preview" more often. The large number of saves make the edit history rather long and it becomes difficult to get a quick overview about the article's past. If you are experimenting with formatting and the like, you can also use a personal subpage firs, like User:Dara/test.
  • I'm unclear whether I like the color-alternating tables you started to insert. Just as a comparison, a table with a plain single pixel border:
Striche Zeichen
+0
+4
+5
+8
+9 龤 龥
  • Perhaps the Khmer characterers in the tables would need a somewhat larger font size, with typical defaults of a western system, they look rather tiny.

Pjacobi 07:49, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hi Peter, thanks for the tips. I will now try this editing thing using the test page. And also try your suggestions. I got the idea of the colored tables from the Katakana page. I planned to edit again on highlighting the two different series of Khmer characters, which are the O and A series. This is very important to know, but it's not that difficult to see and the colors do look confusing..I might just forget the color tables thing altogether. Good day. :) --Dara 19:56, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Dara...

[edit]

Hello Dara,
Just by coincidence, do you own a forum somewhere? I may accidentally stumbled across a forum whose owner has the same name as yours. :) Squash 07:56, Dec 6, 2004 (UTC)

Hi Squash, I use to own a language forum a few months ago, but that did not do to well so I closed it. I do not own any forums currently. --Dara 23:21, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Hello again, I think you must have accidentally blanked (according to history) your own talk page. So I reverted it back to the most current version that has contents. To revert a page so it goes back to an older version... Click on history, select the time and date of the revision you want then click edit and save page and that is how you revert a page. :) Squash 03:16, Dec 8, 2004 (UTC)

Adminship

[edit]

Hello Dara,
I want to just let you know that I am a candidate for adminship. Being an adminship gives me more powers to move page etc. I hope that you will know me enough to trust me to become one of this 'admin' thing. To support me, go to Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Squash then go under the place where it says 'Support' and sign with your name and if you want to say why I am a good person (in one sentence).

Sorm-or-kun. :-)

Image:Phnom Penh French Colonial.jpg

[edit]

Hello Dara, I exactly thought that it wasn't a French colonial building. But I just trusted the western tourist that it was so because he said so. You are very correct about the picture of the building, it really looks like a heap of rubbish that is damaged by the Khmer Rouge (just an opinion). If you can find a more suitable picture, feel free to do so - if you can't find any or cannot be bothered that is okay too. Squash 20:21, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Calico Goldfish

[edit]

Hello Dara, I really think that the information about the Goldfish, be on a seperate page. It wasn't really your fault because someone else had not formatted "A type of cat" calico incorrectly to be a see also link. Just create a new page Calico (fish) and copy the information about the Goldfish from Calico (fabric) into that new article. When you have copied and save page you can delete the goldfish information from the fabric page. I can't do it otherwise it shows that I edited it and people will think that I wrote the information about the fish. Squash 23:40, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Nevermind, User:Gecko took your edit away from you. Squash 09:26, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)

( that sucks then. --Dara 00:25, Feb 23, 2005 (UTC)

Web-screenshot tag

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Google screenshot.png, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please make sure that Wikipedia has permission to use these images. Then edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. You may find an appropriate tag at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags or Wikipedia:Template messages, or if none of these fit you may write a description of the license yourself. You may want to refer to the image use policy. If the use of this image on Wikipedia is a copyright violation, please follow the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion to nominate this image to be deleted. If you have any questions, please feel free to post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 07:34, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've nominated this image for deletion. That's the right thing to do, if Wikipedia does not have permission to use this image. But if you can establish the source of this image, and get permission from the copyright holder to release it under a free license (such as the GFDL), then it's okay for Wikipedia to use it. I think the article on Khmer classical dance would benefit from this image, so the best thing would be to get permission to use it if possible. Where did this image come from? Have you talked to whoever holds the copyright to it? —Bkell 08:15, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Khmer Script in Khmer Language Box

[edit]

I put Khmer unicode script into the babel language box for km-1. My translation might need editing, since my Khmer skill is very basic, and I have an old dictionary. I noticed that the other languages have their boxes in their native script, but our Khmer boxes are all in English. Can you please check out what I did and leave feedback here. Perhaps you may need to revert it back. If you like it, maybe we can change all the boxes? I did have trouble getting the box to be the same size as the others, and I played around with font size and line height. I often increase font size on my browser to read anything, but especially Khmer. I look forward to your reply. --Dorje 23:24, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Aksarchhor.gif

[edit]
Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Aksarchhor.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aksarmul.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. CLW 00:31, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Respond to Cambodian Theatre Box

[edit]

Hey Dara, I think a theatre box would be a great idea. However, I know more about Cambodian theatre than making a box. I'm relatively new to wikipedia. CanCanDuo 23:24, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
