NPOV Tiago do Vale
[edit]Hello Elekhh:
I wonder if you could give some guidelines on what should be fixed so that the article conforms better to the NPOV guidelines. I personally had a few doubts about the "emergent" bit, though that's how he was described on ArchDaily and, of course, the Design Philosophy section, which isn't that factual, though that's part of many architects' articles. I made an effort to base every statement on reliable third-party sources.
JamesCoulee (talk) 12:01, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi James, I appreciate that you put a lot of effort in assuring verifiability and that is very hard to write NPOV articles on architects given that so much of architecture media is promotional. Overall the article has lots of citation overkill that seems to try to inflate importance by citing likely mirror and parrot pages. The 'design philosophy' section seems to be based on own statements, rather than critical review. The awards section is excessively inclusive, listing many non-awards (such as shortlisting). The exhibitions list seems also inflated by including every event in which he participated, rather than important exhibitions in which the subject had a key role - given that this is an encyclopaedia. Also, the lead should explain why is he notable per WP:CREATIVE. Hope the above is of help. --ELEKHHT 13:10, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi Elekhh, Thanks for taking the time to pinpoint those aspects: they make sense to me. I'll try to mitigate these shortcomings. Should I give you a "heads up" once I do? Cheers! JamesCoulee (talk) 17:33, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Colonial era v. colonial
[edit]My only concern is that the scope for the articles is not in fact identical. Perhaps it should be but in some cases I felt it needed to be a bit broader. Someone wanted to delete Colonial architecture of Bogor.. But I understand the desire for uniformity and consistency. On the other hand, whether a mosque is an example of colonial architecture is I think.. unclear. It is certainly colonial era architecture. :) As far as the Bogor article I would consider merging it to the broader target but then it seems a bit undue.. So now it's a history of Bogor article. I don't know.. Suggestions welcome. OrganicEarth (talk) 01:11, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
- Actually I see it was an Architecture of Bogor article which still wasn't broad enough for at least one editor.. OrganicEarth (talk) 01:13, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'm following Architecture of Indonesia that distinguishes between vernacular and colonial architecture. If it was "colonial era" than both from that period would be included. I would suggest before performing major changes as to how information is organised, is always good to discuss on the relevant WikiProject talkpage and with previous contributors. Sometimes is not clear from your stubs what your intentions are. --ELEKHHT 01:21, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Brisbane
[edit]Just curious but why do you think some private Queenslander residence is worthy enough to belong in a inbox montage? There are no brownstones or townhouses in New York City's infobox montage. Nor are there any Georgian terraces in London's infobox imagery. Plus, a Queenslander is more relevant to an Architecture page than it is here. There is also a photo of the City Hall in the Governance section so why repeat it? It's been there for years and it fits/illustrates that section perfectly so why repeat it in the infobox? It's completely unnecessary. I don't appreciate the environment on some of these pages relating to Australian cities, because you and some other editors are very resistive to changes that are not your own. However I'm not going to retreat into submission just because you don't like my edits. I included the other bridge in the infobox because it shows how much of Brisbane is surrounded by water, and that much of the transport relies on water crossings. I also included the former Old State Library for its architectural heritage and significance. It's way more iconic than some tacky, crass man-made beach. Ashton 29 (talk) 02:55, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Irrelevant 2PP
[edit]Canley didn't need a reason to revert your edit apart from 'discuss before removing content'. Every non-classic division has the 2PP listed and always has. I and others consider it quite informative. If you wish to get a consensus to change then please do so. Timeshift (talk) 22:56, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
- Strange Canley doesn't need a reason, or to reflect on my reasoning... Strange how 'always' can have such a narrow meaning... Strange that 'informative' is supposedly synonimous with 'encyclopaedic'... -ELEKHHT 12:12, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- So then change the consensus. Otherwise it carries very little weight. Timeshift (talk) 12:19, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- When arguments 'carry very little weight' and consensus is defined by how things are done by those 'always' around you've got a non-open historic encyclopaedia. I thought Wikipedia aimed a bit higher. --ELEKHHT 12:26, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- The AEC themselves calculate both a 2PP and 2CP and adds them to the seat's results page in a layout very similar to what we've had for a very long time. Learn what non-classic means. We aren't adding 2PP in, you're taking 2PP out. If you want to, get consensus, and don't edit war away from the status quo whilst in progress. You're in the worst position on all counts. I advised that the content is 'informative' in response to your edit summary of 'irrelevant' 2pp so don't twist words. Walk away and move on before you dig a deeper hole. I'm embarrassed for the both of us. Timeshift (talk) 12:33, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for coming up with an argument. So AEC does both. Which one is more relevant? --ELEKHHT 12:48, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

- I asked you to discuss it before removing long-standing content. Is that so unreasonable? You think it is "trivia", others disagree. One of the reasons why things are "always" done in a certain way and consensus is needed to change, is the scope of the alteration and the inconsistency that causes. Say you remove or change the order of the two-party distribution in Melbourne and Batman, were you intending to do the same for the other nine non-classic divisions at the 2013 election? And just the 2013 election or would you go back and remove or re-order the 2PP tables for every non-classic distribution at every election there was one? And all the full results pages? If not, I would argue that the inconsistency of piecemeal changes to two divisions at one election is more unencyclopedic than what you consider trivia. --Canley (talk) 12:28, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, happy to do so if that's your concern. Irrelevant 2pp counts between 2nd and 3rd candidates can be consistently removed - that's not how actual preferences flow. I don't remember seeing such trivial stats for other countries: so what might appear consistent (even if an error) for Australian politics, might just as well be inconsistent for the encylopaedia. --ELEKHHT 12:41, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- So then change the consensus. Otherwise it carries very little weight. Timeshift (talk) 12:19, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
I'm not doing your work. Remember you must leave the decade-long status quo as is until you can get a new consensus on a wikiproject ozpol talk page (not the article talk page as it affects many seats) and don't edit war or you might encounter sanctions. I am humouring you, yes... i'll guarantee you now that 2pp and 2cp remains in all non-classic divisions. Know when you've put your foot in it. I'm departing from this conversation now. Bye. Timeshift (talk) 12:52, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- And I thought is our work to improve the encyclopaedia. But it seems yours is to guard the status quo from a decade ago. --ELEKHHT 12:59, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- It's as improved as it's going to be, with both the 2PP and 2CP remaining listed in the non-classic divisions (a term you hadn't heard of until now) at the AEC link, the ABC link, and the wikipedia link. If you think one should be removed against what the sources have and we've used for a decade with no logical reason to dispute it (until now) then you'll be very isolated - but don't take my word, please, test the consensus waters at wikiproject ozpol. Now i'm really departing. Bye. Timeshift (talk) 13:07, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

WENDINGEN, architecture magazine 1918-1931, (Fair use)
[edit]Dear Elekhh.
- 1925-3/9 Frank Lloyd Wright (cover designer 1885-1987)
- 1920-10 Erich Mendelsohn (cover designer 1885-1987)
- 1924-3 Hermann Finsterlin (1887-1973) eigener cover
- 1929-7 Lyonel Feininger (cover designer 1890-1971)
- 1924-8 Willem Dudok (1884-1974) eigener cover, (nominiert für Deletion)

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Empire Arcade
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Empire Arcade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
