Red flag laws

I saw your edit to my talk page and replied to it earlier. Having looked into this a bit more it appears that the information about having to disassemble the motorized vehicle under one of the laws is actually verifiable in the cited source (see here). I also see that in your post on my talk page you claimed that this book (Illustrated Motor Cars of the World) does not contain the words "disassemble", "equestrian", or "pacified"; this is true, but the snippet I linked above on page 9 shows that it definitely does discuss a law requiring vehicles to be disassembled (though it doesn't use that exact word). Revenge porn and molka

Hi G-57, I had considered adding the Revenge porn page link to the Burning Sun scandal page previously, for "molka", but reading the page, I see that it means something different. On the Revenge porn page, "The term is also often misused to describe non 'revenge' scenarios, including nonconsensual pornography distributed by hackers or by individuals seeking profit or notoriety." Molka in South Korea is the general term for all hidden camera and illicit distribution of secretly videoed sexual content....may be just a camera set up in a bathroom to spy on women there... although it could be revenge porn, it is not that specifically. I was hoping "molka" would get its own page soon. For now, I have removed the page link....but I am willing to discuss further. I am off to bed soon, so may be a bit, if you respond back. Book urls in citations

My understanding for the use of cite templates is that links to sites like Google should be avoided if the OCLC or ISBN is included. These generate links which take the reader to a selection of book catalogue sites, and the user can make their own choice. This better fits the Wikipedia model of neutrality or agnosticism which means we avoid recommending Google over other search or catalogue tools. Thanks --Fæ (talk) 09:51, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

@Fæ: Yeah, I've seen the admonitions against "commercial booksellers, such as Amazon.com" in the citation template documentation, but I don't think that most editors apply that to gbooks as well: we have instructions on linking to it in the guide to citing sources, a tool and a template for formatting the refs, and >500,000 articles with gbooks links. Personally I think the gbooks page previews are very useful for assessing and verifying sources. Cheers, gnu57 10:52, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

The RFC was over 8 years ago and there were mixed opinions, it was hardly a slam dunk, consequently another RFC might well fail. At the end of the day, Google is a commercial site and spams visitors with links for where they can buy the book they are looking for, giving links to Amazon (for which they get commission), links to Google Play for eBooks and top level star ratings with links to their own books sales website.

Compare that to links to WorldCat, which does not do any of this.

If you are really interested, it might be an idea to run another RFC on exactly this issue again. --Fæ (talk) 10:59, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

@Fæ: I've been mulling this over a bit, and I think it would be a bad idea for me to open an RfC. I've never done one before, and the more I read about RfCs in general and this question in particular, the more I'm convinced I'd be out of my depth. (I saw this essay today and thought "ok, no thanks".) If you'd like to propose one at some point, I'd be happy to participate; in the meantime, though, I'm satisfied with the apparent status quo. Indiggo

I see you have adopted the article.

(1) COGE Two-Fingered Typist relented on all of the questionable cites except Bernstoff. See my talk page.

(2) I had started expanding some cites to include city and owner using the Romanian and English Wikipedia. Obviously, where it is the same publication or website, you can expand those cites.

(3) For non-internet cites (L&O SVU Companion, L&O SVU DVD, Wicked Clone Album CD, Twins Indiggo Book, etc.), I had access to all the physical books and CD's except the Indiggo album. I currently don't have access.

(4) All the cites have working links (archival links in some cases) as of September 2018.

(5) Indiggo had another run at the American Theatre of Actors mid-December 2018 to mid-January 2019. There is a Broadway World release early December as well as articles at the beginning of January 2019.

I'm very happy you've adopted the article. I put a lot of work into it from July - November 2018. I think after you have gone through the cites (which I did) and checked my work, you will be able to get it to "Good Article" status. I had dreams of "Featured Article" but I don't think the cites have sufficient quality. In general the best Romanian newspapers are little more than American tabloids.

Feminist views on transgender topics

Hi, Genericusername57. As you know, I think you've edited the Feminist views on transgender topics article in ways that adhere to our policies and guidelines, and I'm thankful that you aren't letting your personal feelings on the topic affect your editing. I'm contacting you now because of emails I've received asking me if I'm really done being involved with the article. Editors wanted to know because there are things they want to see added to the article and in a neutral way (one that adheres to the WP:Due weight policy), but they don't want to get involved with the article because they perceive it and its talk page to be a hostile environment. The emails have come from gay men and lesbian women, two bisexual women, and one transgender woman (I don't know her sexual orientation). I told them that I am done with the article for now, but that you have edited neutrally there and might be willing to add some of the material they state is missing. I think that A145GI15I95 would be willing to add the material as well, but, as you know, certain editors there have had tensions with A145GI15I95. In the "Transgender women in the lesbian community" section, which currently needs expansion, they want to see some of what is mentioned in this 2019 "The Nature of Sex" New York/Intelligencer source by gay author Andrew Sullivan or in other sources. They have a point about mentioning some of the issues that Sullivan mentions. At Talk:Transphobia (now seen at Talk:Transphobia/Archive 5), I noted that I would eventually be adding (to the Transphobia article) some material on the tensions between lesbians and trans women, which is significant and goes beyond feminist views. For example, this 2013 "Encyclopedia of Lesbian Histories and Cultures" source, from Routledge, page 776, addresses the tensions. Something else editors want to see added to the Feminist views on transgender topics article is information on trans women competing in women's sports. As you likely know, that topic is heavily debated, by feminists and beyond. This "Do Transgender Athletes Have an Advantage in Female Sporting Events?" video, from Good Morning Britain, even shows a trans woman disagreeing with allowing trans women to compete with cisgender women at the elite level. Not that I'm suggesting the video should be used as a source. I've also received a query about adding information to counter the "cisgender gay men should be open to dating or having sex with trans men" text currently at the Attraction to transgender people article. I will get around to doing so if no one beats me to it. Just like with lesbian women, gay men state that, when it comes to dating or having sex with a trans person, it's not about being trans-exclusive; it's genuinely about them not having control over their sexual orientation, which is centered on sexual attraction to particular sex characteristics (including genitals). Hi, @CorbieVreccan: I was going by the guidance at WP:RSP#Forbes.com_contributors: Both Forbes and the Huffington Post host blogs where "contributors" can say whatever they like. You appear to have mistakenly undone my reversion of a drive-by by a semi-inactive editor. In ding so you seem to be challenging the Texas Tribune, which is a reliable indepednent source that fact-checked the claims made int he film, along wiht multiple WP:RS that identify the movie as misleading, anti-abortion and propaganda. I'm happy to reflect both POVs but removing the reality-based perspective (e.g. direct commentary on the movie by OB-GYNs) is an NPOV issue. Guy (Help!) 18:14, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
