Suggestion for a female scientist worthy of a Wiki article

[edit]

Hi, Mary. You are well known for highlighting women in science in these hallowed halls of Wikipedia. I don't know if you're still working in this area, but if so I'd like to suggest you consider writing an article about Sheila Hobbs DeWitt PhD. (LinkedIn) Sheila is a chemist who has made seminal contributions in the fields of combinatorial chemistry and the use of deuterium in drug discovery. Thank you for your consideration. Don't hesitate to let me know if I can be of use in this regard. Tony AWCzarnik (talk) 22:37, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

May music

[edit]
story · music · places

Thank you again for the particularly lovely DYK review for Magdalena Hinterdobler who is on the Main page today, together with the opera that your colleagues deemed not interesting and too obscure for our general readers. The soprano thought differently, - listen and see. - One of the pieces in our recent uplifting choral concert was Bach's Ascension Oratorio, - perhaps watch a bit how the closing movement was performed in Bach's church. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:58, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

did you listen and see the soprano? - today's story has a pic of a woman holding her cat, a DYK of 5 years ago - the recent pics show 2 orange tip butterflies --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:03, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

June music

[edit]
story · music · places

Franz Kafka died 100 years ago OTD, hence the story. I uploaded a few pics from the visit of Graham87. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:33, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Today's story is about an extraordinary biography, Peter Demetz. - I uploaded a few more pics but leave the link, because there's a new one of Graham and his mother who liked it. - What do you think of my DYK nom for Daniela Kerck? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:11, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Today I wanted to write a happy song story, on a friend's birthday, but instead we have the word of thunder on top of it, which would have been better on 2 June, this year's first Sunday after Trinity. The new lilypond - thanks to DanCherek - is quite impressive. As my 2 Jun story said: Bach was fired up. - Today's Main page is rich in music, also Franz Liszt and a conductor. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:19, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Today is "the day" for James Joyce, also for Bach's fourth chorale cantata (and why does it come before the third?) - the new pics have a mammal I had to look up --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:14, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New pics of food and flowers come with the story of Noye's Fludde (premiered on 18 June), written by Brian Boulton. I nominated Éric Tappy because he died, and it needs support today! I nominated another women for GA in the Women in Green June run, - review welcome, and more noms planned. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:41, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

inteGraality documentation

[edit]

Hi Mary, I attended your presentation about the Wikipedia Workbook for Cultural Institutions at WCNA in Indianapolis, and wanted to say thank you for all the work you've done to create that resource, and for presenting it. I noticed that you wrote a detailed and robust user guide for the inteGraality tool, and I think your guide may contain more information than what is currently in the tool's documentation. So, I just wanted to let you know I filed a task (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T376902) to suggest that the information you created could be used to build out the tool's documentation at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Tools/inteGraality. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and expertise! TBurmeister (WMF) (talk) 13:51, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Elder Wikipedians

[edit]
WikiProject Elder Wikipedians

My proposal to make extensive changes to WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older was a bust, primarily because many users felt that the term "Senior Wikipedian" implied a higher ranking Wikipedia membership. Therefore, I am making two less ambitious proposals:

Proposal #1. Change the name of "WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older" to "WikiProject Elder Wikipedians".
Proposal #2. Drop the minimum age requirement to 60 years.

Please respond to Elder Wikipedians and let us know what you think of each of these proposals.
Thank you,  Buaidh  talk e-mail

If you don't wish to receive any further information about Elder Wikipedians, please remove your username from our notice list. Thanks.
