Imerpial/metric

[edit]

Uk is part of the EU and so we trade and do other things in metric. Have you ever been to a wreslting event here and had the wreslters annouced in metric? As far as wrestling/boxing/MMA goes, it's still a non-entity.(Halbared 23:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

oD McPhail, with that name I thought you were British! I guess with that answer you are not! Imperial system is the British system. Yes the UK is part of the EU, and yes our official measurement for 'some' things is metric. But we use our own system in wrestling not because of the US (Brit wrestling died in 1988 but is now making a comeback) but because we always have. Likewise boxing and MMA. I don't know if you know this, but on the whole the Brits don't like metric and don't use it unless they have to. I am not geting political here, but it remains fact that for everyday use the UK still retains Imperial. No-one tells anyone their height in metric! The UK is not like the rest of Europe, e.g. Finland where Lakes is from. And this is still seen in sporting activity like boxing, wrestling, and the rest. The rest of the world uses metric, and we understand it, but we still primarily use imperial in everyday use.(Halbared 23:20, 3 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

The fact that wreslting/boxing is announced in imperial is not anecdotal though. Are there any other Brit wreslting editors that you of?(Halbared 23:28, 3 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Hiya McPhail. Lakes has initiated a vote, as to whether Canada/Oz/NZ/UK should have metric or imperial first. If you could spare the time could you pop over and vote? Thanking you, regards.(Halbared 09:23, 7 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

It is close to semi-protect, but not yet enough. I have it in my watchlist and will keep an eye on it. -- Kim van der Linde at venus

You know that world better than I do, do you expect that the rumor mill will increase in the coming days? -- Kim van der Linde at venus 14:48, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I look during the day and often in the eveing at times at wikipedia just to see if there is anything needed. The fastest way to get my attention is to drop a line at my talk, and I will have a look at the page at the same time. I will semi-protect the page if it is needed. The criteria is roghtly 8 to 10 reverts per day for semiprotection, and if we are going to do it sooner, to many pages get protected and we better make editing of IP-numbers impossible to start with. It is a nessecary evil between being open and avoid things like this. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 17:10, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that pointing editors to WP:ISNOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_crystal_ball might help with some in not reinseting the stuff over and over again. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 17:21, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Copeland

[edit]

Why did you remove my addition of the information that Edge/Adam received a botched bump from Tommy Dreamer? Please reply on my talk page. --Antoshi~! T | C 01:18, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

However, it's true, and you, as a wrestling fan should know that. I agree with you on the "Luckily" aspect, although not on anything else. I've seen bumps like that before, and Adam was dangerously close to being paralyzed as other wrestlers before him. It is career-ending, that's not a question, but explain to me how "The extent of his injury is unknown," especially since he was visibly hurt, constitutes as redundant. --Antoshi~! T | C 14:03, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

billed weight

[edit]

What is ' 5³+3*p-V12(1-x)'? The metric part is the only part that is readable. I don't think that other wrestlers bios have both their legit and billed weight. This was stopped with the Undertake edit reverts.(Halbared 13:28, 10 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

I didn't know aboot that, thanks. Where did you get the Scott Hall height 6 ft 6 in from? He doesn't appear to be that taller than Hogan if at all.(Halbared 13:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Do you think this guy reaches a level of notability worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia? I'm tempted to prod or AfD, but I wanted to see what you thought first. youngamerican (talk) 15:08, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking it out. I think I will withhold AfD or prod fro now, but I might nominate the article in a few months if he is still bouncing around high school gyms and local armories. Cheers. youngamerican (talk) 18:06, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Mines45

[edit]

Warned again, not much hope that it will have any affect but lets see... Petros471 11:11, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to report that Mines45 is still persistently editing the pages in question. McPhail 18:23, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As you can probably guess I'm getting a bit fed up of this. I did get another 1 line email from him, which was less obscene than the last one, but didn't make much sense. Could you have another go at engaging him in discussion, if that doesn't work then maybe have a go at a WP:RFC. Petros471 19:48, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I think you slightly misinterpreted my 'fed up' comment. I didn't mean I was just doing to totally walk away from the situation, just that it is time to take it to the next step of WP:DR, and yes that should come from those who are having the dispute not from some admin who doesn't really have a clue about the articles in question and if the edits to them are 'good' or 'bad' (yeh that'd be me). We've tried the first step (talking), mediation won't work if he's not willing to talk, so the next step is WP:RFC. The suggestion to 'have another go' is to prove that everything possible has been tried before the RFC. Petros471 20:24, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. You just need to sign in the "Users certifying the basis for this dispute", I'll do so after you do (as you are the primary user to bring the RFC your sig should go first). Petros471 20:03, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Let's see if anyone comments now (especially Mines45!). Petros471 20:25, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lita page vandalism

[edit]

I have to apologize for the vandalism that was caused. I have a very immature 13 year old brother. I also found out that he has vandalised the Matt Hardy page. Once again I apologize for him. I, personally, have tried to do all I can to help out with articles. Specific things that I have contributed to was the bWo page, I merged the articles on a superbomb and a top-rope powerbomb, I have helped out with the London and Kendrick page, and a lot of other smaller things. Once again, I apologize for my brother.

Please tell me it isn't true that you don't like me anymore! (sigh… kind of proves the point, doesn't it?) Femto 13:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jaycey Harper

Your edit to Jaycey Harper was done incorrectly. You should have created a disambiguation page, with links to each article (the wrestler, and the Trinidad person). I have reverted: please do it correctly. Thanks, Sandy 14:24, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Match capitalization

[edit]

If WWE and their website refer to a match in capitals (Evening Gown Match as opposed to evening gown match), I think it's pretty obvious that any articles referring to and referencing those matches should follow their scheme. If it was another wrestling promotion which did not set a precedent for capitalizing or not capitalizing, I could see where it would be a judgment call. But since it is their match and they capitalize it, that's the way it should be referred to. If an author's book is mentioned in an article, you can't not capitalize the title and justify it by saying, "Wikipedia doesn't capitalize that." It's not an encyclopedia's place to pick and choose what gets capitalized and what doesn't. Its job should be to strive for 100% accuracy, and not capitalizing a WWE match that WWE always capitalizes is putting your own style ahead of the truth.

I understand they did not invent the evening gown match. Regardless, that specific match at Armageddon 1999 was theirs. They scheduled it, they booked it, their wrestlers participated in it. The box for the PPV refers to it as a Four Corners Evening Gown Match. When referring to that specific match, it should be capitalized according to their system.

Your wrong

[edit]

That is where you are so wrong. I did not make those changes! I made changes alright, but I am not the sole person who edits wikipedia pages! I never would change 'Litacanrana' to 'Litacarana' and if you check through my history, you will see I am the person that put up citations for why certain moves should be called what they are! (check before you accuse). And calling me a serial vandal is just juvenile. JI don't see how writing my comments on a Trish comments page is vandalism. You are acting extremely juvenile, and you really need to get your facts right before making wrongful accusations! It seems that you and a few others around here think that somebody died and left you wikipedia as an inheritance. Yes, you may have been here before me, but using scare tactics in order to stop me making reasonable and good edits to wikipedia pages will not work. Because somebody has a different view to you doesn't necessarily make the person wrong--I think you should learn to be a critical thinker. I refuse to be bullied by people who choose to throw their weight around. And if you are the kind of authorities that people have around here that call people names and revert good edits, I am happy to leave wikipedia for you. Thank you for you rude comments. God Bless --Fr3nZi3 02:05, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now you are just being difficult. Technically you are right, but it is all fair and good you telling me that it was OK to add that move but every time I put it up in the past you deleted it without consideration or thought--and then parading my name around wikipedia as a vandal! I have consulted a wikipedia authority and have confirmed that it is not against wikipedia rules to add comments to an ongoing debate on one of the comment pages--which apparently you told me was wrong. Again back to Litacanrana--what happened was that I used a copy and paste that was wrong that I eventually changed back like [1]. So again you are wrong to tell me that I am making non-valuable edits. I do not appreciate being called a vandal--and again I reiterate that calling sombody a vandal just because they have a different view to yours is juvenile. Thanks for your comments. --Fr3nZi3 17:16, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hard Justice

[edit]

I don't like changing edits made by a good editor like yourself, but please check out Wikipedia:WikiProject_Professional_wrestling#Professional_wrestling_show_formatting for how wrestling shows should be formatted. TJ Spyke 22:35, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It says formal writing is preferred but not required. So I think it is better just to stick with how WP:PW agreed upon since it doesn't violate any rules. Also,i'm pretty sure "vs." is an abbreviation, not contraction. TJ Spyke 23:06, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Steph's baby

It was JUST born. Should anything be put in the article yet?

I wouldn't call it unreliable, but I wouldn't put too much credit on it. I'll wait a bit.

Also, there are reports that it has autism.

Well, my source was misleading. Sorry.

Glen Jacobs

[edit]

A lot of non-notable items are included. It sems to be going ther way of other pages like Calaways', where almost everything is included. A match between Kane andd Rey is included because of RAW versus Smackdown? And a feud with Angle where nothuing happened? The bio needs pruning(Halbared 14:54, 25 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Matt Hardy

[edit]

Apparently, PWInsider says Hardy will be taken off the roster. Should this be put in his article?

On a side note, SD! is starting to suck form this lack of superstars.

Why did you revert it? It's not really something that can cleanly be embedded into the results without it looking ugly. It's notes about the show that don't belong in the results section. Why shouldn't it be seperate? TJ Spyke 23:54, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, but it doesn't really help the article to just mix it up with the results section. It looks pretty ugly. Maybe it can be re-organized without putting it into the results section. TJ Spyke 00:02, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How is that? I just re-organized it, is that good? TJ Spyke 00:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

[edit]

Do you intead to go and remove trivia from every other article? I see no reason to remove the trivia section from WrestleMania articles when there are trivia sections in the Super Bowl articles, World Series articles, Stanley Cup articles, etc. Do you intend to go and remove their trivia sections as well? TJ Spyke 01:28, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why remove them from the WrestleMania pages though? I can understand if you don't like them, but I don't think it's fair to remove the triva from the WrestleMania articles and not take them out in stuff like the Super Bowl articles. TJ Spyke 13:54, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TNA

[edit]

Since they have been doing PPV's for less than 2 years, maybe TNA PPV's can be combined based on their name(like how all the WWE Unforgiven PPV's are on 1 page). I started thinking about this after you nominated TNA Genesis 2006 for deletion. I think I will suggest this at WP: PW. TJ Spyke 00:00, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure Genesis 2006 and Tunrning Point 2006. SummerSlam 2007 and Survivor Series 2007 are even further in the future(Series being 16 months away) and we know nothing about them other than the location and venue. TJ Spyke 00:09, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion

[edit]

I noticed that you tagged the page Image:Kurtangleworldchampion.jpg for speedy deletion with the reason "High-resolution image; the Kurt Angle article already has three free use images, and there is at least one more in Commons, so this image is redundant and not fair use". However, "High-resolution image; the Kurt Angle article already has three free use images, and there is at least one more in Commons, so this image is redundant and not fair use" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use {{subst:orfud}} if you still want the image to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 17:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Johnny Angel

[edit]

Hey there McPhail, I just did an article on Johnny Angel and just thought I would thank you for the templates you put on your page, they helped alot.

Johnny Angel is also Johnny Lee Clary who was shunned from wrestling for being the leader of the KKK, he later left the KKK and is now a Christian Minister who preaches aginst racism. He cops alot of flack on wiki (by kkk and nazi's etc) and his main article has been deleted. I suppose they will try and vandalize Johnny Angel too! If you have anything to add to the page it would be appreciated. Potters house 01:05, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Becoming a problem

[edit]

Your constant vandalizing of Lita's page is becoming a major problem. We have discussed previously on the talk page and came to a conclusion that the moves are called The Litasault, the Litabomb, and the Lita DDT. You leave it for a while, then go back and delete it. It seems that you sre trying to be difficult and use your power as an experienced wikipedia editor to intimidate people with your clearly wrong point of view. Considering I and others have tried so hard in trying to resolve this matter in a civil fashion, including showing you an abundance of proof--you still persist on being a nuisance. I have reverted it back to what it is supposed to be, and if I ever see it changed I promise I will do everything and anything possible to ensure that you are blocked for vandalism. But I doubt we will have to get to that point. Thanks for your cooperation. --Fr3nZi3 16:19, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DID THE WWE HAVE THE MICKIE-DT UP WHEN YOU WERE SAYING ALL OVER THE PAGE THAT IT SHOULD REMAIN THERE?? NO I DIDNT THINK SO! THE NAMES HAVE BEEN CALLED THESE FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS! STOP YOUR CONTRADICTIONS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF BEING DIFFICULT! THANK YOU! --Fr3nZi3 16:31, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK let us come to a compromise. To be honest I have never heard the name of the DDT being called the Lita DDT, although that is the name. So until I hear that, we can keep that if, but I refuse to give in on the Litasault and the Litabomb, because it has been consistantly been called that for seven years. --Fr3nZi3 16:36, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Litacanrana is not a finisher move and should not be bolded, incase you haven't noticed, and shouldnt be bolded! --Fr3nZi3 01:00, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Randy orton

[edit]

Why did you remove the picture i placed on his page. Every single other wwe wrestler has many picutres on there page so why has this one got to be any different, i find it very unfair you are placing this rule only on randys page and none of the others theres no rule saying the pictures cant be added it also breaks the page up abit and makes it look better. Also why remove the suspension section, his been suspended twice and theres information about it but removing it and basically revert everythign ive done makes it so it can only be mention and nothing else. Lil crazy thing 18:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i still think the suspension information is better of with its own section, also the second suspension was mention in the wrestling observer newsletter which is the most reaible place to get any information from, they havent been wrong yet and its been going years. Lil crazy thing 18:43, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes it was in the actual wrestlign observer newsletter, the last time somethign like this happened it didnt appear in the actual one, also pwinsiders elite section mentioned it too.

TRISH STRATUS

MCPHAIL, GO CHECK OUT THE TALK PAGE ON THE TRISH STRATUS THING AND THEN YOU'LL KNOW WHY THE WET KNIFE-EDGE CHOP AND THE TWO CLOTHESLINES INTO A DROPKICK THING IS BEING INSISTENTLY BROUGHT BACK ON THERE BY FRENZ AND THE REST OF THE PEOPLE THAT AGREE THAT IT SHOULD BE ON THERE RATHER THAN JUST GOING BACK ON THE PAGE AND CONTINUING TO DELETE IT AND JUST SAYING "TOO GENERIC" AS IF THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE AN UNDERSTOOD LAW. THIS ISN'T A THREAT, THIS IS A MATTER OF RESPECT, FOR IF YOU DO NOT GO ON THE TALK PAGE AND EITHER PROVE THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO COMPLETELY JUSTIFY YOURSELF OR ADMIT YOU'RE WRONG AND LEAVE IT ALONE, THERE IS A GOOD LIST OF WIKIPEDIANS (MYSELF AND FRENZ INCLUDED) THAT WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO ASSUME THAT YOU HAVE TURNED FROM A GOOD WIKIPEDIAN TO A STUCK-UP - IN ESSENCE, BAD - WIKIPEDIAN. Regarding the controversy over a move name on this page. Its been called the Show Stopper on ECW by Joey Styles numerous times. He just used it to win on tuesday September 12 over Sabu. This move has never been called the Hog Log. If it has then cite a source. Even if it has been called the Hog Log, its been referred to many more times as the Show Stopper. Leave it. Thanks --Mikedk9109 19:47, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mikedk9109 appears to be editing this article now simply to force reverts. Since it's obvious by the comments he's left on my talk page that he's attempting to force me to "violate" WP:3RR, is there a chance you can step in and show consensus against his behaviour? Thanks. - Chadbryant 23:48, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey McPhail. I was just wondering why you removed the hidden message by the StratusFear, in light of her recent title win/retirement many editors have been coming and changing it to "Stratusphere", not bothering to check the links saying otherwise. I put the message there in hopes of deterring them, and I was envisioning it being there for a few days before removing it. I don't really mind, and I won't put it back, but I just wanted to know why. Thanks! -->So sayeth MethnorSayeth back|Other sayethings

Why did you remove the November 4, 2004 incident that happened between Angle and Daniel Puder? Go to http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2768642435058535138&q=Angle+Puder&hl=en and you can see that Puder's shoulders were not on the mat and he indeed had Angle is a real submission hold. If that not proof enough for you I don't know what is. And please, if you think of me putting the November 4 incident as vandalism, then you are mistaken, I'm just trying to put up facts, and that video is fact enough. I like and respect Kurt Angle and he is my favorite wrestler and I'm thumbs up for him going to TNA, and I also respect Daniel Puder for giving Angle a run for his money. Couldn't we put up a controversy part on Angle wiki page, where the incident can be menitioned? --Greg novella 08 October 2006

C.W. Anderson

[edit]

I would think about revising the Article about C.W. Anderson.

Wikipedia requires VERIFIABILITY for entries. The entire timeframe for Gene Anderson's supposed OK (more than two years after his death) and Arn Anderson's approval (through a supposed third party) of his use of the surname Anderson is heresay and can only be verified by the person saying it. Is this really reliable enough?

I would suggest an alteration to cover his use of the Anderson surname in a seperate section in the article. DocBlanchard 14:21, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Starrcade

[edit]

I will clean up this article over the next few days, right now I am taking care of some other WCW PPV's. IF the article is split up, maybe the non-PPV editions(1983-1986) could be on one page and the PPV ones(1987-2000) on another. It's a little better than having a seperate page for each one. Keep the PPV ones on the current page and more the others to another page and call it something like "Starrcade (1983-1986)". TJ Spyke 01:01, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of coarse not, maybe this should be brought up at WP:PW before any article splits happen. 30KB is an acceptable size. This brings up another point though, what about the TNA PPV's? Every single TNA PPV has it's own article, that's 23 articles for past PPV's and 26 for the 3 remaining shows this year.

What's your problem with my edits to this article? You can't revert valid edits and then label it as vandalsim. DavyJonesLocker 20:03, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, fair enough, but half these edits aren't mine. When I added my own info, I reverted to a previous version, which obviously included some of these. I've removed the ones in error. DavyJonesLocker 20:29, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, just wondering about somehing I was confused about. If Madrid is in Spain, then whats the need to delete Spain? I mean it says he as a Spanish-born wrestler, and Spain is spanish. I'm totally confused. --Mikedk9109 22:02, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But if he was born in Spain that has nothing to do with his ethnicity. He was born in Spain and thats that. It should say Madrid, Spain. --Mikedk9109 22:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh ok. Thans for clearing that up. --Mikedk9109 22:11, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
