Speedy deletion nomination of User:Mcrossphd/sandbox
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Mcrossphd/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. [edit]Hello, I'm Ruy. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Ruy (talk) 19:49, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Ruy (talk) 00:28, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

- Dear Wikipedia Administrators,
- I understand your concern about promoting a business, but I'd like to clarify that the page about Ross-Clayton Funeral Home is focused on its historical significance as the oldest funeral home in Montgomery, Alabama, founded in 1918. The page aims to document its history, legacy, and impact on the community, rather than promoting the business itself.
- To address your concerns, I've made the following changes:
- - Emphasized the historical aspects and significance of the funeral home
- - Removed any promotional language or content
- - Added reliable sources to support the funeral home's notability and historical importance
- I believe this page meets Wikipedia's guidelines for notability and verifiability. Please reconsider your decision and allow the page to remain, as it provides valuable information on the history of Montgomery, Alabama.
- Thank you for your time and consideration.
- Sincerely,
- [Mcrossphd]
- - Be respectful and polite
- - Focus on the historical significance and notability
- - Provide evidence and reliable sources
- - Address the concerns and make necessary changes Mcrossphd (talk) 06:30, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Ross-Clayton Funeral Home
[edit]I just came across the article and one of the links confused me. You had "...conduct class for colored wardens, with [[George Wallace|E. P. Wallace]], serving as the instructor...". Was that really supposed to link to George Wallace? It seems that as he was a segregationist he wouldn't have wanted to help with the Montgomery bus boycott. Cheers. Ross-Clayton Funeral Home moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Ross-Clayton Funeral Home. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. GPL93 (talk) 16:23, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- It appears that you have a conflict of interest (COI). Having a COI doesn't mean that you cannot create an article on this subject, but you have to submit the article as a draft for review. I will leave a notice with all of the COI guidelines below. Best, GPL93 (talk) 16:25, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Mcrossphd. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GPL93 (talk) 16:26, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- My name is Abdul Mujeeb, and I am an early-stage researcher currently undergoing training under the supervision of Dr. Michael Cross, a Senior Researcher employed by the US Federal Government. Although I am working remotely from Pakistan, Dr. Michael has assigned me a research project to investigate and write an article on an unpublished historical marker not listed on Wikipedia. My initial attempt focused on David Calloway Ross, Jr., the president of Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, but unfortunately, the article was deleted due to my limited knowledge of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines at the time. I have since chosen a new topic, Ross-Clayton Funeral Home, which is reportedly the oldest funeral home serving the African American community. I have no personal or professional affiliation with the funeral home, and my research is conducted independently. I have added some more reliable sources to the article from google books. As I continue to learn the process of creating and publishing Wikipedia articles, I humbly request your patience and understanding. Thanks Mcrossphd (talk) 21:02, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
