Image tagging for Image:325_CES.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:325_CES.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:Warriors_of_the_North.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Warriors_of_the_North.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 15:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Military Barnstar

[edit]

Thank you for your award and your kind words about the articles I've created and edited here. I'm a retired USAF captain (1972 - 1993) btw. I've been a bit under the weather the past few days and this is the first time I've been able to thank you :)

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! There is however another Wikimedia foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading media there instead. That way, all the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view images you have previously uploaded by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

Special Operations Squadron series

[edit]

Kudos for very nice work! I did notice though that the articles lack inline citations. If there any chance you could provide a few while the project is still fresh in your mind? All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 15:57, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 20th Special Operations Squadron, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.specialoperations.com/USAF/Units/16thSOW/20thSOS.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. [edit]

Comment: It's not a "really big issue", but I find your edit comment "(military history)" not particularly informative. Yes, it's better than no comment at all, but I still felt the need to go look at the diff to find out what it meant. Had your comment said something more informative (I don't know - maybe "add military history project box"?) my life (and everyone else in the WP community who saw it and didn't know what it meant), would have been simpler.

Speedy deletion of 90th Fighter Squadron

[edit]

A tag has been placed on 90th Fighter Squadron requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. nancy (talk) 19:32, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

Congratulations on your stream of quality articles. I'm impressed by your industry! You can, by the way, self-assess your own articles, up to and including B-Class, by adding class=stub or class=start to the template perameters. Missing image Image:60 APS.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:60 APS.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:60 APS.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:60 APS.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. We certainly do. It's part of the Aggie War Hymn where the entire student body sways (more or less in unison) symbolizing the sawing off of Varsity's horns off. Not bad for 86,000+ people to sing in unison. The swaying of the entire stadium (no, not just the people but the actual structure itself!) is so intense that there is a warning for those in the press box that it will move a few feet during that part of the song. — BQZip01 — talk 23:48, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ndunruh. Thanks for adding the boatload of project banners to all those articles, especially {{wptrade}}. We can also use more members of the Trade Wikiproject, if you care to join. Anyway, a helpful hint, if you could add {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} to talk pages when there is more then 3 or so project banners. It makes the page a little bit cleaner. Here is an example:

{{WikiProjectBannerShell|1=

USAF portal

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you seem to have an interest in articles relating to the United States Air Force. The USAF portal is in need of editors to maintain it, I was wondering if you are interested? bahamut0013 14:07, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As you can see in the talk page, there are 7 monthly features. A maintainer would choose what to feature for each category, create a template for that month, and the portal will automatically transclusion switch from one month to another. If you look at each type of feature, you can see the format used in previous months. You can also see that maintenance hasn't happened in a while. bahamut0013 17:34, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Entirely correct. ERCheck and I maintain the USMC portal, and it is set up almost identically. He's tone some tentative updates since he noticed the problem in November, but we really need somebody that knows the Air Force better than he and I, and is willing to stick to it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. bahamut0013 01:10, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I see you have taken on some editing for the USAF portal. The way it is set up, on the first of each month, the new pages cycle in, with the exception of the news, which is manually added, as this can't be done well in advance. For the Jan 1, I'd set it up for the Question Mark flight to cycle in on Jan 1, since that was the anniversary of the flight. I see that today you made a change with a new story. For archival purposes, I'd like to suggest that if a new article has already been posted for the month and it is to be replaced with a new one

  1. First move the existing to a file of the same name appended with _1 for the first change (2 for the second, and so on), as was done for Dec 2008.
  2. Next post the new article in the original file (that has become a redirect) and save. This saves the history and preserves a clear archive of all postings;
  3. Finally, add the information to the archive page for the news articles.

Hope this makes sense. Ask if it doesn't. Or feel free to suggest an alternative. — ERcheck (talk) 04:29, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning. If you have any questions, please let me know. Bahamut0013 will be away soon. Do you expect that you will have the time and inclination to take over the USAF Portal maintenance completely? (All I know about the USAF I learned on Wikipedia; ok, almost all...) — ERcheck (talk) 15:36, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

6514 Test Squadron Info

[edit]

The 6514TS and 514FTS also flew C-130, H-53, H-1, and BQM-34 & AQM-34 Drones.

C-130 was used as airborne test platform for many unmanned arial vehicles including the drones. H-53's were used for mid-air retreaval of the drones, and H-1's were used to transport people and drones. Drones were mostly old leftovers from the Vietnam era. Our oldest C-130 was an A-model from 1957.

My experience is from 1990 to 1994 with the 6514 and 514 at Hill. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.53.130.219 (talk) 05:59, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AF Squadron Pages

[edit]

Hey, nice work on the categorizing of the space squadron pages. I'm about to do a massive update of the Combat Communication Squadron pages, but I'm trolling for information. I wanted to pass along a tip, if you want to get the "meaty" historical details we AF historian-wannabes are usually after - send in a Freedom of Information Act request to the specific unit. The AF made it easy to do, and they can answer electronically. I got a good load of information on the Program 437 unit at Vandenberg AFB (10th Aerospace Defense Squadron) and it was electronic and free. See you around the sandbox! TDRSS (talk) 02:51, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added a slew of ANG Combat Communication Squadron logos to [Wikimedia Commons] for usage. May get around to adding them to the pages this weekend... or I might not. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 00:41, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since 1998

[edit]

Hi, Ndunruh, I noticed your comment at Ohconfucius's page concerning this phrase, rather than "1998–present" (BTW, it needs an en dash according to WP:MOSDASH). Can I say that I agree with him that "Since ..." is more elegant; but there are two other reasons for using this wording. First, it's shorter, in space-confined infoboxes; second, it doesn't put quite so much emphasis on the notion of some present point of time, and this is useful when situations change and editors don't immediately substitute "present" with a closing range. Thanks. Tony (talk) 17:29, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it okay if I move the news section to below the intro header? It would make updating a little more worthwhile. Marcus Qwertyus 01:11, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:TeamMcChord.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non-free rationale for File:RAF Mildenhall Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:RAF Mildenhall Logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
