thanks for the "heads up"
[edit]about the E. W. Marland and William H. Murray issue. I ran into your "needs cleanup" posting yesterday at Marland and wandered over to your user page, but did not comment. However after getting your note today, moved the Murry stuff to its discussion page too. i left a not for this fellow on his blog page but have not heard back. Turns out that he's a Young Republican and even admitts it, so that explains a lot, to me, anyway. I have recently made a couple of interesting road trips through Oklahoma - one of which is leading to a nice [whooops, that's an opinion] article about the Pioneer Woman Statue in Ponca City. Life . . . . . . . . . . . ....... it's just a road trip- hopefully, a long one. Carptrash 19:21, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Just FYI I've deleted it so you can fix the move :) -- Tawker 00:31, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Jacksonville Public Library
[edit]Re: Copyright issue
I am the Webmaster of the site in question, and I also posted the Wikipedia article. I wrote the original article on the http://www.jacksonvillelibrary.com/history.htm page, and I have the Library Director's permission to re-post the library's history here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SamLowry (talk • contribs) 12:43, May 9, 2006
<references/>
[edit]As User:Ligulem points out, there is now a class="references-small"
specification, which is preferred, as it allows all the references lists to have a consistant appearance, and so we can change them all at once, if need be. I've updated your userspace template accordingly, happy to help. Again, if you think the globally specified font-size is too big, too small, etc. You might engage the folks at the talk page. — May. 14, '06 [10:28] <freakofnurxture|talk>
- P.S. Thanks for taking care of the Oklahoma pages. I've been doing Texas-cruft myself. — May. 14, '06 [10:33] <freakofnurxture|talk>
The death of OK-51C
[edit]Scott,
I live in Stillwater, and frequently make the trip from here to Oklahoma City either via OK-51 or US-177 & OK-33, then I-35. Sometime in 2005, all the signs for OK-51 disappeared, including junction signs and reassurance signs on the former highway. At the end of OK-51C, the signs directing traffic to EB/WB OK-51 remain, as they usually do when a state highway is realigned or decommissioned. The old alignment of US-177 through downtown Stillwater still retains navigation signs for OK-51, although (obviously) the navigation signs for US-177 have been moved to the new alignment.

OK-108; Images
[edit]Scott,
I began the article of OK-108 this morning. It is a bit rough, with no links to cities, etc., but take a look when you get a chance and let me know what you think. Also, I made a minor modification to the OK-51 page: I added an inline image that I used in the OK-108 article. Let me know what you think.
Here are the images I have created thus far (original scale: 10px per inch):

[edit]Re: Infoboxes
[edit]Are you using 1 mi = 1.609 km for the conversion?
- Wow... I knew it was 1.609344, which is what I use... I thought I was the only geek that put all 7 significant figures into the calculator :o)

Hotbuckles
[edit]I see you posted a delete prod on the Hotbuckles article. You may not be aware that this article is identical to another article that was prodded, speedied, and finally afd'd earlier today. In both cases, the prod and the speedy tags were removed by the page's creator and/or one of his sockpuppets. The Hotbuckle's page should be afd'd as spam immediately. Furthermore, the page should be watched closely, as I suspect the author will create it again and again and again. --Charles 17:50, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- The same author has duplicated the belt buckle article (retitled belt buckles) with the same spam content. I speedy tagged it. But, I think this guy needs a stiff warning from an administrator, 'cause he's on a rampage. Jeezus, I hate spam. ---Charles 18:16, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Re: OK-33.jpg
[edit]Hey, that's great. I wasn't sure how to delete the file after I had uploaded it. Also, I found that PNGs are actually smaller than SVGs (usually), but are not scalable. I continued to use PC Paintbrush because of the bug you found. Now that I know how it works, I will go back to inkscape.

[edit]You "voted" to move Category:Limited-access roads to Category:Freeways. If you would also support Category:Freeways and motorways, please modify your "vote". Thanks. --SPUI (T - C) 04:43, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
How sure are you of the figure of 14 original interchanges? Also, the Turner Diagonal interchange is perfectly designed for a coin-drop toll to/from the east - any idea when that was removed? --SPUI (T - C) 04:43, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Ooh - I just found [1]. Maybe I can get something from those maps. --SPUI (T - C) 04:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I've moved the discussion to Talk:Kansas Turnpike. --SPUI (T - C) 06:08, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
If you can find either of these books:
- Schirmer, Sherry Lamb and Wilson, Dr. Theodore A., Milestones: A History of the Kansas Highway Commission and the Department of Transportation, Kansas Department of Transportation, December 1986. (A second publication by a combination of authors, Milestones: A History of the Kansas Department of Transportation, takes the story forward from 1987 to 2001.)
it might help with the article. --SPUI (T - C) 19:36, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- The local library just received it (the 1986 one) through interlibrary loan - I'll pick it up this weekend. --SPUI (T - C) 00:31, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Early history expanded - I'll see if there's anything else later. --SPUI (T - C) 18:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
I've modified it so the default is rounding to the nearest integer, but you can also specify variables length_km or round. --SPUI (T - C) 09:37, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Emporia sign
[edit]Is there a reason you removed the north from [2]? Would it not be signed as north on the southbound Turnpike? --SPUI (T - C) 07:32, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure - I think they serve a good purpose, much like images, but others may disagree. --SPUI (T - C) 07:59, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Sortkey
[edit]Is there a reason you removed the space in the Category:U.S. Route 66 sortkey in this edit? --SPUI (T - C) 21:37, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Yeah - adding a space places it at the beginning with the other states. --SPUI (T - C) 07:48, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
PA Route Shields
[edit]Hi -- I'm interested in creating PA Route Shields for some articles I plan to create on state routes. I downloaded a version of Inkscape, but I am not having success in creating svg files. I have a series of png's created. Is there a way to convert these, or do they need to be built completely in Inkscape. OR -- if you have time to create some of these for me, that would be great too, but I realize it's a lot to ask. Hope you can offer some help.
