Requesting clarification

[edit]

Hi, TP, and hope you're well! Your reply at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Archive/2024/09 § 2024 Bangladesh anti-Hindu violence 2 three days ago says two week protection, but the article log of 2024 Bangladesh anti-Hindu violence (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) says the protection expired yesterday. Did you mean to write "two days" or did you mean to protect the article for two weeks? Thanks! Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 16:54, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

user rights script

[edit]

Hi there, I saw you handled a few requests at WP:PERM/AP just now and wanted to pop by to recommend User:MusikAnimal/userRightsManager in case you weren't aware of it. Along with being faster than doing it yourself, it also sends a message to the talk page of the user you've granted the rights to. I notice you didn't leave any messages to the people you just granted rights to - were you planning to do that manually? (If no, I'll go drop them the template message. I just didn't want to do that if you were already writing something for them.) -- asilvering (talk) 20:34, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Thanks :)

I didn't know I have much of a reputation :)

Anyway, regarding Polish sources - these days machine translation is pretty good and easy, as long as the source is available outside of Google book snippets. Webpages can be translated with one click, or even set up to be auto-translated given conditions like language. Documents can be translated by Google Translation (documents tab, requires pdfs) or by other tools like ChatGPT. The main problem I run into these days is that some stuff, particularly Polish, is not digitized, even in shadow libraries (which cover almost all English works, at least). But yeah, recently I've been working on Polish literature topics, and I often need help from Wikipedians in Poland in the form of asking them to go to a library and scan some pages for me... (those could be translated too these days without too much trouble, if needed) - and here it helps I am fluent in Polish so I can at least locate most sources I need through Google Book snippets. Right. Access was the primary issue. But I know your name and I trust that you are very familiar with policies on copyright so I can assume the odds of you plagiarizing or closely paraphrasing a source are very slim.--v/r - TP 13:36, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
