Suggested new page: Timeline of Canadian budgets

[edit]

Hi Tompw,

I've used the Timeline of Canadian Elections page many times and I'm profoundly grateful. However, for economic analysis it would be even more helpful to have a timeline of Canadian budgets, at the very least from 1981, to correspond to the RBC Fiscal Tables (http://www.rbc.com/economics/economic-reports/pdf/provincial-forecasts/prov_fiscal.pdf).

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Red456789 (talkcontribs) 21:47, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

GO Station ridership

[edit]

Hello, thank you for updating several GO Station articles with 2018 ridership. I just want to point out that the ridership from your source is only from the period of April–November 2018, and not for the whole year. Would it be possible to indicate that in the station infoboxes? BLAIXX 22:20, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Football League Two teamlist requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Canada census template

[edit]

Hi Tompw. Thanks for your efforts updating all census info. Note though that the field "2021_total_pvt_dwell" in {{Canada census}} calls for total private dwellings, not private dwellings occupied by usual residents. If you use this latter value, the data will no longer be comparable, since the different years show different data. Thanks for your diligence in this matter. P 1 9 9   20:04, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tompw. Again, thanks for updating the census info. I see you started using the new parameter I added for "occupied dwellings".
Just wanted to make you aware that you should not add the dollar sign ($) when adding household income. This is already done by the template. So, it is now displayed twice at all your edits. Regards, -- P 1 9 9   14:01, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's a good thing I only did ~100 in the first trance! Thankfully, AWB has a find-and-replace function that made this easy to fix. FYI, I have a long-term aim of using WikiData for this info, so that I won't have to go through all this again in five four year. There's a bunch of stuff I need to do over there before that can happen; so in the meantime I'm updating existing uses of the template. Tompw (talk) 14:23, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that has been my goal as well. I fully support the linking to WD! It is so tedious and slow updating all 3500 municipalities (not to speak of higher level jurisdictions) after every census. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with that. -- P 1 9 9   19:03, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've figured out how to do bulk data uploads to Wikidata, but one of the intermediate steps is tagging the various Census (sub)divisions with the relevant Q-code in Wikidata. If I left a list on my userpage there, would you be willing to add those? There's ~50 CDs that need it. 19:13, 24 October 2023 (UTC) Tompw (talk) 19:13, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Polling status" of Reform UK

[edit]

Hi there, Please note that the edit I put into the lede followed referenced material I added to the GE 2024 subsection. You said "fell back to 9%…" which while true in a case or two isn’t supported by a reference anywhere, and of course there are other polls without that much fall back and lead over the Conservatives. What I’m trying to say is, although maybe I’m not putting my point across very well, apologies for that, is that I don’t reckon one should just pluck figures from a table elsewhere and editorialise with them. All the best. Boscaswell talk 07:52, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just stop, please, Tompw, removing from the lede the rather soft words that had been included about pollsters reporting an increase in support for Reform following Farage's resumption of the leadership. Have you looked at and absorbed the information shown on the Opinion Polling article? You’ll note that one of them, the esteemed YouGov, is now reporting a 1% deficit cf. the Cons. Redfield and Winton surveyed 10,000 people and came up with 2%. Others have a different result, that is always the way with opinion pollsters, and indeed one has a figure of the deficit cf. the Tories of double figures. But look at the graph! The polling line for Reform shoots up. So it is clear that the words which you deleted and said were now countered are clearly correct, notable, and current. Just stop, please, your edit warring. I’m going to edit in something similar and trust you to the decent thing and leave the new words as they are. All the best. Boscaswell talk 20:45, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
