Notice

The file File:Xbox360hardrive.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Redundant to much better-quality image of hard drive: [1]

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 02:37, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited England women's national beach soccer team, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Katara (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup official poster.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup official poster.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Non-free use of File:Euro Beach Soccer Cup logo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Euro Beach Soccer Cup logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jonteemil (talk) 10:10, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at User:TurboGUY/sandbox. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 13:42, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:TurboGUY/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 16TeamBracket-with consolation use in 2020 Winners Cup

[edit]

Hi, I didn't knew this template but I really don't like it. Its so confusing. I think it would be better using several brackets (like in 2017 FIRS Men's Roller Hockey World Cup) instead of that big messy template (I didn't check out it looks on a smartphone). 2021 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship

[edit]

Hello. I see that you've been editing the goalscorers for the 2021 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship. I was previously trying to do that, but I found that CONCACAF's website lists the times strangely - they list the time on the timer, not the time elapsed. But it seems that you have been able to find the correct time. So that brings me to my question. Have you just been subtracting the supposed goalscoring times from the time at the end of the period (i.e., they list the goal as 7' in the first, so you convert that to 5' because 12-7 = 5), or do you have a different source for the goalscoring times? Just asking for future reference :)

2021 Euro Beach Soccer League ranking

[edit]

Hi TurboGUY, thank your for your beach soccer and other contributions! I'm currently making some minor style and typing error corrections; in doing so I stumbled over your contribution here: In the sentence "Ranking & tie-breaking criteria: 1. Group placement 2. Points earned 3. Goal difference 4. Goals for" there is obviously something missing. Is it possible for you to correct this? Sorry, I can't do it myself because I haven't found a source for these criteria in the internet. Thank you in advance --Cyfal (talk) 16:03, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove table captions, they are a requirement

[edit]

Hello. Firstly, please do not remove table captions from tables on articles. As I just said in my edit summary, they are a requirement on Wikipedia per MOS:TABLECAPTION, which is part of MOS:ACCESS (a Wikimedia-wide policy), and this was decided by consensus at WT:ACCESS in 2020 (see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Accessibility/Archive 15#RfC on table captions). If this seems "redundant" to you, then great, I guess you're not visually impaired and don't need to use a screen reader.

Secondly, I find it amusing that you seem to have looked very hard to find any music critic who reviewed Dragon that you need to resort to citing a student from a university. Do you ordinarily seek out opinions from university students on what's good music? They're not music critics. It doesn't matter that you can stress the part of MOS:ALBUM that apparently justifies accepting any old website with an "editorial staff" (which apparently includes university students supervising each other's work)—you know things are bad if you need to resort to students getting extra credit on their university's newspaper. They're no better than a random Internet user who started up a Blogspot with a couple of friends.

Finally, you can quote bits of MOS:ALBUM and say "it says generally, that doesn't apply to everything!", but you do realise every single editor who disagrees with something tries to claim the article they're editing should be the exception, right? You quoted MOS:ALBUM back at me in edit summaries but you should have taken closer notice of the order of the sections on the page. Critical reception is placed before track listing. Most readers are accustomed to seeing prose sections before the track listing. "Prose-heavy" doesn't mean "needs to have five paragraphs before it fits the definition". This has been widely interpreted as meaning all prose sections. There is nothing special about Dragon that tells me it should be or needs to be an exception other than it's your personal preference to have the section there for some reason. Album covers in discographies

Per WP:NFC#UUI #2, the use of non-free album covers in discographies is not permitted. As a result, I have removed five images from Thomas Bergersen discography. These are:

These images are now orphaned non-free images, and are subject to deletion under WP:CSD#F5. If you have questions about this, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 11:17, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.svg

[edit]

Hi. I think the green should only be limited to the ball, the others are in navy per id:Berkas:2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.png. Also the blacks should be in navy (both in 242844). Thanks. 2001:448A:50E1:EFCC:A9:A026:4168:36F3 (talk) 20:28, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@2001:448A:50E1:EFCC:A9:A026:4168:36F3 I have reviewed FIFA's website and it would appear that both versions of the logo are being used interchangeably at this stage. However, the "purple" version of the logo appears to be the one used against the lighter, green background. This is compared with the "green" version of the logo, used against the darker, purple background. Since Wikipedia uses a light coloured background as default, I believe it makes the most sense to use the purple version of the logo. Therefore, I will now change the version of the logo uploaded.
