- This is a shock! A great loss to Wikipedia! I was coming around to supporting his bid for adminship when it closed, and have regretted my part in it ever since. I had been hoping to see him run again, and considered more than a few times, apologising and encouraging him. Our work hardly ever overlapped, his being to produce the kind of high quality content I could only dream of, but we did cross paths a few times reviewing potential copyright violations. Rest in peace, Vami! You will be missed greatly! Usedtobecool ☎️ 18:20, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

He touched all of our souls deeply and we will never even know the thousands of strangers throughout the world whose life he made undubitably richer through his work on the wiki and irl. My grandfather used to say "In the lives of great men, their legacy is infinite." His existence was a great positive and I'm sad to hear of his passing. - I just want to add myself to the long list of people who appreciated Vami IV on Wikipedia -- both as a contributor and as a person. I just left this message on Discord, but adding it here, too, for folks who might come across this page instead, especially his friends and family who probably know he spent time on Wikipedia but might not know more than that. Vami, you see, wasn't just a regular here -- he was distinguished in this community. In addition to the gratitude expressed here on this page, you can see some of the tokens of appreciation people have given to Vami over the years here. You might see people praise his article contributions, using terms like Featured Article and Good Article. Those are marks of Wikipedia's very best work, reserved for articles that aren't just high quality but have undergone a peer review process. Very few people have the combination of skills, perseverance, and dedication necessary to shepherd even one article to Featured status. Vami did it 8 times. Outside of this community, his work will have an impact on the public's knowledge indefinitely. Every time someone Googles Simon Bolivar, for example, the first result will be Vami's excellent article. More than 2,000 people read that article every single day, all over the world. And he worked on hundreds of articles. Truly contributions to be proud of. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 21:53, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

- I had no interaction with Vami IV but they were a very familiar face on Wikiproject video games. They detailed their progress on Doom actively on the Discord and I was aware of it recently becoming a featured article. I had just turned on my shower and let it heat up when I heard of their passing, so my first instinct was to bring it to WP:TFA in their honor. I wrote the blurb and accidentally left my shower running for 20 minutes... Panini! • 🥪 04:03, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

- I got to know from Discord. Upon reading the words "...in tribute to Vami..." I quite literally stopped breathing. I've never pulled up someone's userpage that fast... and seeing that candle template made me sick to my stomach. This is heartbreaking. Our paths crossed three years ago... within one short year we knew we would be each other's foulweather friends. Ever helpful, ever witty... an overall solid guy... I'd expected the two of us and the other zoomer editors to all grow old together onwiki, so to speak. I will always be proud of my outspoken support of his RfA. He wanted to learn so much about India, and I hoped he'd actually visit at some point and that we could go around visiting ancient monuments. The world can be kind, Vami, but I'm so sorry that it was not kind enough to you. There's so much more I wish we could've spoken about. Henceforth, all my content editing is dedicated to your memory, to Completionism. My condolences to his family and his IRL friends - if I, someone who did not even know his face, voice, and his real name until yesterday, am this devastated, I cannot imagine the grief they are going through. Other projects in Vami_IV's memory
[edit]Several people off-wiki have mentioned the prospect of an article improvement in Vami's memory. As GreenC mentioned above, Vami had an incomplete sandbox for the 2020-2022 catalytic converter theft ring.
I'll list a few other collaborations/projects that were mentioned:
- Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Boundary Fire (2017)/archive1 - @Premeditated Chaos and @Guerillero have agreed to shepherd this currently-active FAC.
- improving Doom Eternal to GA, getting Doom (2016 video game) to TFA, improving other articles in the Doom (franchise) topic - @NegativeMP1 has mentioned improving these articles.

some of his other future projects were Great Hanging at Gainesville (his draft here), Texas during the American-Indian wars, and the Palace of Versailles, which he abandoned working on, but still very much cared about. he also wanted to get Simón Bolívar to FA, but abandoned that goal due to not being able to effectively use Spanish-language sources; a Spanish-speaking editor(s) might want to help with that one. another few editors have decided to take up his goal of writing an article for every Texas county courthouse. i will come back to this later & add more sawyer * he/they * talk 18:28, 16 February 2024 (UTC)- Vami and i originally wanted to get Gates of Heaven Synagogue to FA, and i was especially excited to have someone so experienced in the FAC process working with me on that project. if anyone has advice on what steps to take next in order to bring it to FAC, or would like to help, please let me know. i'd love to realize this goal. sawyer * he/they * talk 19:38, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hey man, I think we're doing a good job of honoring your memory. I like to think we'll keep doing so. I still miss you. Grief doesn't diminish; life just grows around it. I think the hole your passing has left in the community similarly cannot be filled. But your example will keep on pushing the community to grow around it and keep on completing the wiki. I hope you're taking good care of yourself. Illogically, impossibly, I hope you are.

We thank you today for Felix M. Warburg House, introduced: "This article is about another of the great houses that once lined Fifth Avenue in New York. Specifically, this is the mansion of Felix M. Warburg, a Jewish financier who ignored fears of anti-Semitic reprisal to his decided to build himself a big Gothic manor in the middle of New York City. Although the Warburgs no longer remain, their legacy does: the museum is now the home of the Jewish Museum (Manhattan) and the building largely survives as they left it. It's a beautiful building and I hope you will all enjoy it."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:42, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
We thank you today for Doom (2016 video game), "about a universally acclaimed reboot of one of the most legendary game franchises ever, and is itself hailed as one of the best games ever. This is also my comeback to FAC after many months' absence. DOOM, and yours truly, are glad to be back. Rip and tear, comrades, until is done."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:41, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
We thank you today for Boundary Fire (2017), "about another Arizona wildfire from 2017, a busy year. In this particular fire, high winds, high temperatures, low/no humidity, and the crispy remnants of a fire 17 years before were combined by lightning into a blaze that scorched almost 18,000 acres of the Coconino National Forest. Also, this is another really short article at 828 words as of time of writing."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:55, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

We thank you today for Ludwigsburg Palace, introduced (in 2018):
- Ludwigsburg Palace, the "Versailles of Swabia," is a current Good Article and Did You Know subject. The palace has four distinct architectural styles, a massive garden, hosts musical festivals annually, and once housed a porcelain manufactory. This is my first attempt at a Featured Article as well as the article's, but I've had aspirations for the bronze star for a long time now. Vami_IV† 19:08, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Yes, we thank you today for Frye Fire, introduced (in 2023): "Continuing (or I guess beginning) my series on contemporary wildfires in the state of Arizona, I would like to present for consideration for Featured-dom this, the Frye Fire of 2017. This was a fire that scarred almost 48,000 acres of the Coronado National Forest that hadn't burned for more than 10 years. It also almost became an extinction event for an endemic and very threatened species of squirrel and has had lasting environmental consequences for the people of Graham County, Arizona." - We remember you and miss you. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:25, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
