Question from Darealturkfork (18:34, 2 November 2024)

[edit]

how do i create a new article? --Darealturkfork (talk) 18:34, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Darealturkfork (talk page watcher) You should go through the tutorials on Special:Homepage first. Then you create a draft through the article wizard. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:38, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding image attribution

[edit]

Hi, how do I use images that have a CC BY-SA 4.0 license? If I understand the policy correctly, do I have add the author's name and license in the image's thumbnail? Thank you. Sam Tabatabai (talk) 19:39, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sam Tabatabai (talk page watcher) You don't have to do that, since people can click the image and see the author's name and license there. You just link it by typing [[File:Example.jpg|thumb|Other parameters here]]. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:41, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. Sam Tabatabai (talk) 20:53, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Hotbuoyz (01:49, 3 November 2024)

[edit]

I want to add a photo on my profile --Hotbuoyz (talk) 01:49, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hotbuoyz, you will have to be a little more specific. What do you mean by profile? Yoshi24517 (mobile) (talk) (Very Busy) 04:38, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Hot Dog Wars

[edit]

I appreciate your note. However I have attempted repeatedly to engage on the talk page. The very first time I made the change I noted it on the talk page.

However the person reverting my edits refuses to engage. You can readily verify that from the talk page. So I don't understand how I am the one being warned here?

From my POV I made a reasonable and well-justified change. The person repeatedly reverting that change without offering any justification for doing so has created this edit war. And I believe that they have done so deliberately so that they can use their greater knowledge of Wikip processes to impose their viewpoint rather than actually arguing their case, e.g. by reporting me for edit warring.

So my polite request would be that you ask the other editor to also engage on the talk page. Czetie (talk) 09:32, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Czetie: You have clearly not made a reasonable effort, as you've repeatedly accused me of vandalism, using misleading edit summaries, edit warring, and removing well sourced, contextually relevant content that's sourced to reliable sources and shows significant coverage of the subject just because you don't like it. You're ignoring the standard practice of reverting to the WP:STATUSQUO during a dispute, and you've accused another long time editor of being me on another account. All of this is entirely inappropriate. Hey man im josh (talk) 10:20, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from CG Writer11 (09:55, 7 November 2024)

[edit]

Hiii, thank you for being my mentor :). I got my first article declined and I just made the resubmission. Is it possible to get some feedback of you about my resubmission, if you think that is ok or if I have done everything right? many, many thanks --CG Writer11 (talk) 09:55, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CG Writer11, hello, I took a quick look at your draft, it seems you rely on a single source, such as WP:PRIMARY sources. What we also need are reliable sources, such as news articles that are third party, that don't have a connection to the subject, and are subject to rigorous fact-checking. See WP:RSPSS for a list of sources that can help tell you if a source you want to use is reliable or not. Hope this helps. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:37, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting a sockpuppet

[edit]

Hi,Sir A sockpuppet is constantly putting unsourced content on the wikipage Uddhav Thackeray,After removing his unsourced edits,he is harassing me on my talk page. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/117.228.176.138 )

@Io5678 (talk page watcher) Yoshi is not an adminstrator, and so can't block anyone, or protect a page from being edited by logged out edtiors. He can give advice, but not much else. You can contact a recently active admin by selecting "admin" here. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:48, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

your edit here and your warning. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Belfield&diff=1256240079 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Belfield&diff=prev&oldid=1256240150 184.153.21.19 (talk) 00:35, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed it, but please do be careful with these types of edits, given the nature of them, as someone else may not see it that way, like I did. Thanks. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:10, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I am careful. The entry matched the lede. Please leave a note below your warning on my talk page -- it was by no means "disruptive editing" .. which you incorrectly accused me of. I would appreciate your correcting that on my talk page.--184.153.21.19 (talk) 09:34, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yoshi, it might be appropriate to either revert this edit, strike it, or otherwise commend on it, just to help ensure their controversial edit isn't actually held against them when other editors are looking at their talk page. That being said, I did issue a 3R warning, and don't want your warning to unduely attract unnecessary negative bias. TiggerJay(talk) 01:43, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tiggerjay Consider it done, I reverted it a little while ago. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:41, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wicked poster removal

[edit]

I don't know how to downsize for fair use. Please do it for me. That was the theatrical poster. The one on display says "This film is not yet rated" mine has that certification WickedFanAccount (talk) 02:18, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WickedFanAccount Oh I see what you were doing. You could try doing a reverse image search for that poster and see if you can find a high quality image that way. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:21, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tried that. Won't work. At least for now, we should use the one that has "Rated PG" instead of "This film is not yet rated" WickedFanAccount (talk) 02:24, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WickedFanAccount Is there a source or something confirming the film is rated PG? If so, then you can use that one. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:25, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. The MPA and all the trailers. This isn't something that needs to be sourced, however, it does get us closer to the "theatrical release" poster. Theatrical release posters should include rating certifications and billing blocks. The one on there currently has neither. WickedFanAccount (talk) 02:27, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WickedFanAccount That's fine then, you can use the PG one. That makes the most sense to me. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:29, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now we just need to find a digital high-quality version that includes the billing block. That would the TRUE "theatrical release" poster. Here's an example of someone who is selling a poster from theaters. WickedFanAccount (talk) 02:30, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah now I fully get what you are doing, sorry about that, it looked like you were link-spamming earlier to a personal eBay page or something. I reverted my earlier warning from your user talk page. That one doesn't seem to have any film ratings on it though. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:37, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it does. To the left of the billing block. On the bottom. Like always. WickedFanAccount (talk) 02:40, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes it does, I'm just blind. I see it now. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:41, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am an avid poster collecting fanatic. I won't buy it unless it's: original (not a reprint), has the rating certification from the MPA, and has a complete billing block. That is the TRUE poster for the movie, and it is legally required per contracts. WickedFanAccount (talk) 02:42, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Hardwork 234 (02:47, 10 November 2024)

[edit]

If I make a small edit on something I know about is it okay if I do not site it all the time. If this is the case then how do I do this? --Hardwork 234 (talk) 02:47, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hardwork 234, and welcome to Wikipedia! The thing is, we have a policy on original research. All claims have to be sourced in some way to reliable sources, to prove that the claim is real. We can't just assume you are who you say you are. We need sources to back up that claim. I saw your original edit, and I would highly recommend you revert it right now, at least until you find a source for that claim. You can see this page for our policy on original research. Sorry about that, and I hope it helps. Again, welcome! Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 02:52, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
