Image tagging for Image:COlicensepl8.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:COlicensepl8.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unspecified source for Image:KYlicensepl8.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KYlicensepl8.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:18, 6 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ccwaters 19:18, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Utaharch.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Historical Utah license plates

[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Historical Utah license plates, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Condado Beach casino

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Condado Beach casino, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:54, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE - Hi Ronhjones, I'm kind of new to this, but I did put a reply on that talk page. Please read it, and let me know what advice/help you can offer! By the way - no, I have no intention of advertising for any particular casinos or hotels. Thanks, Zul32 (talk) 21:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of casinos in Nevada ‎

[edit]

I undid all of your changes since that are, as far as I can see, wrong. For starters, casinos on or near the Las Vegas strip are not in the city of Las Vegas. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC) I've just researched this further... and found the following addresses for those casinos that I had changed: Casino Royale 3411 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109 Ellis Island 4178 Koval Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89109 Hacienda US Highway 93, Boulder City, NV 89005 Rio 3700 W Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89103 Slots-A-Fun 2890 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109 Tuscany 255 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89169 So, the only one technically in error was the Hacienda. I don't see why these others can be updated appropriately as Las Vegas (and the Hacienda as Boulder City respectively) since their address is in the City of Las Vegas? Having an empty cell in that page is not meaningful nor helpful to the person wanting to know the city of these establishments. I'll leave a post on your talk page about this as well.Zul32 (talk) 20:35, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to research it further, look at the Clark County Assessors web site. The USPS addresses are not assigned based on the actual location of the building. So while the USPS address will get mail delivered, it does not tell you where a building is located. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:53, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I'll pass - sounds like too detailed of a technicality and it's not worth it. I was just trying to be helpful. If the average person surfing wikipedia has to understand that bit of it, then that's beyond me. Zul32 (talk) 21:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A-1 Club

[edit]

Can you please add to the article so we know where it is? Not everyone knows where Wendover is! Postcard Cathy (talk) 17:46, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I forgot to put that in! It's done now. Thanks for checking that out. I'm going to work on a couple more defunct casinos in West Wendover as time permits. Zul32 (talk) 19:14, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CasaBlanca Resort AfD discussion

[edit]

I removed your comment there since it may have crossed the line about canvassing for votes. This is covered by WP:CANVASS. I know that my comment to you pushed a little strongly, but I believe I stayed within the guidelines. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:43, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good point, understood. After reading the canvassing article, instead my approach should have made it just a 'friendly notice'. I'll try to be more neutral and unbiased in the future.Zul32 (talk) 21:34, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of A-1 Club

[edit]

The article A-1 Club has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable location

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. • Thank you for the update on this article. I probably don't have enough time to set aside and put forth the effort to make this more noteable/noteworthy. This is part of West Wendover Nevada's history, and I've made a comment on this article in the discussion page. I would like to see it stay, if more contributors would be willing to help out? I know about WP:Canvas so I won't start I was just interested in working on articles about casinos in West Wendover, NV. Thanks Zul32 (talk) 19:57, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question about defunct casinos in Nevada

[edit]

Many of my fellow collectors of chips and other memorabilia from Nevada casinos would like to help uncover and preserve their history. However, based on the fact that the page on A-1 Casino is scheduled for deletion, I wonder if Wikipedia is the place we should contribute our efforts. I'm a newcomer to contributing here, but I know enough about researching old casinos to know that reliable, citeable reference material is scarce, especially when trying to delve into the history of a club.

Based on your experience with this entry, would you agree that perhaps Wikipedia would not be a worthwhile place to put much effort into creating pages that may have less information than your page on A-1 does? Cottonchipper (talk) 23:13, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for your feedback on this topic. I've wondered a little about this as well. However, I don't know of another source on the internet that has as much freedom for users to directly contribute their input into creating articles as this website does. Instead, most internet websites only allow for the webmaster to update the page. It may be possible that there is a defunct casino "Wiki" website out there, but I doubt it. That, plus with the ability to contribute pictures from Wikimedia Commons really adds up to something noteworthy. I'm not a historian, and I'm fairly new to contributing here as well. My basic thought on this, is that "It's got to start somewhere." I'm not trying to get up on a soapbox and start canvasing, but not only is it reporting on history, but it's also an item of interest to others who appreciate the subject of casinos. Do you think that we should eliminate articles on all defunct casinos? How about removing the article about the Stardust? Or the Dunes? I have absolutely no interest in reading about the dung beetle but yet, there is an article out there about it... others apparently are interested enough to want to contribute to it and retain the article, so I assumed that the same would be for these defunct casinos. I've also put in a request to both the Salt Lake Tribune and the Deseret Morning News asking for reference information on it as well.Zul32 (talk) 13:00, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for responding. I'm one of those who would like to see a page here for every place in Nevada that had any kind of gaming license, since I consider them places of historical interest in the development of legalized gaming. I'm soliciting opinions of others, both at Wikipedia and in my circles of gaming memorabilia collectors about expanding coverage of these locations in Wikipedia. Cottonchipper (talk) 15:38, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, that would be particularly interesting, I haven't checked it out yet, but I don't think that there are any articles about illegal casinos either. Little would be documented on those I'm sure. However, as you know some casino chips have come from those establishments over the years.Zul32 (talk) 15:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:22, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Grounds for Coffee

[edit]

Hello Zul32,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Grounds for Coffee for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Trivialist (talk) 23:23, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to work on the article as a userspace draft. That way, you can take as long as you need on an article, and then move it into the main article space when it's ready. Be sure to keep in mind Wikipedia's notability guidelines regarding article subjects. Trivialist (talk) 01:08, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To get this page over the line, we need two good references. This means that the references include substantial information on the subject, they are written by people with nothing to do with the company, and are reliable (so no blogs or forum posts). Appearing in lists is not suitable for this purpose, as the coverage is not substantial. By Substantial I would expect at least half a page of text, or its equivalent in spoken words. Have there been any newspaper or magazine articles on the chain? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:19, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On the topic of draft deletion, if it is ignored for 6 months then it will be a potential candidate for G13 speedy deletion. However if you make changes in the time, it will defer a delete. So as long as you keep improving it you can take as long as you need. Also if it is deleted you can ask for it to come back at WP:REFUND. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:07, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. ALPCA Best Plate Award photos

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for uploading all of the photos to the ALPCA Best Plate Award section. Hopefully they will remain in place, but I have a feeling that some of them are going to be considered non-free images and that they will be removed or reduced in size. Also, since the use of non-free images in tables is not authorized, some photo might be replaced by a link. I have filled in many of the photos that you did, but a large percentage were removed for the reasons above. It's been a constant battle to keep photos posted to this table since I rewrote the entire ALPCA article between September - November 2017. Just thought you should know what might take happen next. I usually don't follow User Talk pages, so if you reply, please use a "ping" reply so that I see your reply. Thanks again for the updates! Zcarstvnz (talk) 12:02, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 04:06, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am indeed thinking about the other articles. There are 3 possibilities: merge them into a more general article. find some actually substantial 3rd party sources, or move them to Wikia. The very best would be to source them,--and then remove the information likely to be of interest only to participants. DGG ( talk ) 09:02, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
