- List of Boston Yanks players (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (delete) – (View log)
A rather useless list. A category could accomplish the same purpose. From spot checking, a lot of entries on this list go to dab pages or to unrelated people, so it hinders navigation more than it helps it. B (talk) 03:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. Per WP:CLN the existence (or possible existence) of a category is no reason to delete a list. My normal intpretation of these issues is that if the list can add more information than a simple listing of articles then it should be kept as it provides more information than a category. In this case the list could contain information on the number of performances, when the players played for the team etc and so provide a useful summary. The fact that an article needs work is not a reason to delete. Dpmuk (talk) 09:38, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. The listing provides more information than a category. There are countless players who do not have articles, and would not show up on a category. These lists offer information on several different articles and help with navigation--Pennsylvania Penguin (talk) 11:58, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete This is the classic indiscriminate list, and it doesn't have to be. In its present form, I agree with nominator that it's rather useless. The sad thing is that there are ample resources about this team (profootballresearch.com, profootballreference.com, etc.) that would supply such information as the position that someone played (quarterback, center, back, etc.) or what number he wore, or whether he led the team in scoring, rushing, etc. It's like paying for a game program and all it has is a list of the players in alphabetical order. Merging this to the Boston Yanks article would detract from that article. Mandsford (talk) 13:45, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - per WP:CLN and the fact that, even excluding the possibility of any improvement, the article does not duplicate the category since it includes players who do not have articles. Given the potential to improve the article and add additional information, there is no reason to delete. I view Mandsford's comment as actually a reason to keep, given that there are clearly sources available to expand the list. Rlendog (talk) 19:16, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
