Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Try your best

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the miscellaneous page below. Please do not modify it. The result of the discussion was Delete - if you want it userfied to you, ask me or another Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles. It shouldn't be userfied to anyone (especially an indef'd user, I think, but reall anyone) unless they request it. WilyD 08:05, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Try your best (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

The essay text here consists of two sentences that don't even discuss what's in the essay's title (nor in the nutshell). This is much too short to be defined as an essay, and while both the title/nutshell topic ("Try your best") and the topic of the running text ("Making mistakes is not the end of the world") are good advice, both areas are covered in existing essays, notably in Wikipedia:Ten Simple Rules for Editing Wikipedia, Wikipedia:Product, process, policy and to some extent Wikipedia:Trifecta. None of these essays is specifically devoted to either of the topics in this essay, though, and they are topics that could very well have essays about them. But this is not it. And as it has existed for a week without being turned into an actual essay, and as it is linked in the essays template, I would argue for it being deleted - or possibly userfied, even though there is not much here to userfy. Don't want to bite the author, who is clearly working in good faith. But it really shouldn't be linked until there is some actual content, and unlinking it from the template without removing it is discouraged. bonadea contributions talk 17:46, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete I was tempted to quote Yoda: No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try. - but seriously, I agree that this does not currently belong as an essay - perhaps it should be userfied until it is more useful. However, whether it is userfied or deleted, it should be removed from the essays template. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 19:34, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
