This phrase does not seem to be mentioned in the target article. Otherwise, it could be seen as misleading since the three topics in the redirect, Writer, Illustrator, and Publisher, are about topics exclusive from each other, so WP:XY applies. Steel1943 (talk) 23:31, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

None of these redirects are mentioned in the target article, leaving their connection between the redirects and the target unclear. I'm assuming they are all referring to a similar topic per the "Katha-" prefix and the fact they were all created by the same editor. Seems this topic may be a type of book with affinity with a specific non-English language, so WP:REDYES may apply. Steel1943 (talk) 23:25, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was withdraw/retarget to Narrative#Elements. Thinking about it, I do not see how it could refer to anything else. (non-admin closure) Steel1943 (talk) 22:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The current target does not seem correct. In addition, in regards to articles listed at Story, there is no clear winner on which specific subject this redirect should target. In addition, since the disambiguation page Story does not list any element items, retargeting there would most likely be misleading as well. For these reasons, I suggest deleting this redirect. ...Yep, I think my point was missed, and the equivalent of a strawman argument was thrown in here, so adding my rationale from the linked RfD: "The use of the word "The" makes it seem this redirect is supposed to refer to a specific [novel] or the title of a work, not [novels] in general." "the novel" is a general term for the novel as a literary form; The Novel is the title of a particular book, and it doesn't help to pipe it in a misleading way. Johnbod (talk) 19:01, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep. The editors saying "there is no One True Novel" are correct, but that's irrelevant, because Johnbod is right: "the novel" is an extremely common way to refer to the concept of novels. See this more targetted google search for the first example that came to mind: [1]. -- asilvering (talk) 16:24, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keep and definitely donโ€™t retarget to that random book called The Novel. In the literary field, โ€œthe novelโ€ is the absolutely standard way to say โ€œnovelsโ€. It means โ€œthe concept of novels without referring to any one novel specifically.โ€ For example, I study the novel in England in the late eighteenth century. Iโ€™d never say I study novels of the 18thC, as that would convey that I only care about a few specific books. asilveringโ€™s examples illustrate this too, RS will be called things like โ€œThe history of the novelโ€, โ€œBotanical imagery in the novel,โ€ etc, never โ€œnovelsโ€. Because this construction is essentially a standard academic jargon I think it is different from โ€œthe toiletโ€. The kind of person who types โ€œthe novelโ€ expects to end up at Novel โ€” and there are people who will type it. ~ L ๐ŸŒธ (talk) 17:24, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, appears to be getting slightly under one view a day, presumably by people expecting to end up where they're currently going. Redirecting to a reasonably obscure book would be quote surprising to most. Rusalkii (talk) 23:49, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As a redirect, the structure of the title seems to be highly unlikely, regardless whether or not there is a specific "history" section in the target article to target this redirect. (The current section target does not exist.) However, this title held an article for a few months during 2005โ€“06 prior to being subject to an apparent WP:BLAR. Steel1943 (talk) 21:12, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Having done so, both were really links to where we should have an article history (genre), which I can't believe is missing. (Adding it to my list...) There's definitely no remaining need for this redirect. ~ L ๐ŸŒธ (talk) 17:53, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is unclear what this redirect is meant to refer. In addition, I looked through Narrative, Narratology, and the current target, and none of the aforementioned articles mention the word "yarn". However, the fact that this redirect currently targets where it does makes me believe that retargeting this to Yarn might be erroneous. Steel1943 (talk) 20:29, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep or retarget to Narrative#Elements. This seems obviously synonymous with "elements of a story" for me, and I don't think "a yarn" could plausibly be mistaken for "yarn" the textile. I don't think shaggy dog story is a good target candidate because many yarns are not shaggy dog stories. ~ L ๐ŸŒธ (talk) 17:35, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Either there should be a stub article here to provide a place for more information to be added or this redirect should be deleted. The edit history says that the redirect was created to link to the inspiration for the name of the party. That may be true, but that article (Golden Party Badge) has no mentions of the topic of this one so I think this falls under reason #10 for deletion of a redirect. โ€”ย Preceding unsigned comment added by Crendrik (talk โ€ข contribs) 14:53, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the one who created the redirect. I looked into creating a stub first, but there's so very little available from reliable sources that I went with the redirect instead. I don't think "#10 If the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article" applies, as there's next to nothing that I found with a quick search, other than the connection to the Golden Party Badge. I agree that Golden Party Badge should maybe have a mention of this Party in it, but I'm not sure where to insert that. Fred Zepelin (talk) 20:37, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to Wilmington massacre, as that is where the most information about this school can be found. The current target article does not mention "Parsley Elementary", so readers who go there will not find any explanation about what they are seeking. A school by that name was founded in 2001, and the current redirect was created as an article about that school in 2008. The article was WP:PRODded on 6 June 2011 (by Neutrality). A mention of the school was added to the Wilmington, North Carolina, article on 13 June 2011 (by Just Chilling, who has not edited Wikipedia since 25 July 2019), who also converted the school article to a redirect on the same day. The mention in that article was replaced with "Masonboro Elementary" on 23 November 2021 (by Onyxqk, with no edit summary). The change corresponds to a change of the name of the school made at around that time. There is much more of discussion of "Parsley Elementary" in the Wilmington massacre article, which contains a discussion of why the name of the school was selected in 2000 and why the name was then changed 20 years later. Additionally, I plan to restore a mention of the school's former name in the article about Wilmington, North Carolina. The school was renamed only a few years ago, so it is reasonable for people to be looking for information about a school with that name in that article. โ€”โ โ€Šโ BarrelProof (talk) 21:05, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect to page where the term is not mentioned or used StreetcarEnjoyer (talk) 04:11, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete based on the history (and deleted history) this is related to Fred Phelps/Westboro Baptist Church. It is mentioned at The Most Hated Family in America#Content where it describes one placard at a picketed funeral saying Diana [Princess of Wales] is criticised by the organisation as a "fag enabler". That's just one quote from the middle of a paragraph containing several others, including the unquestionably more notable "God hates fags", so I don't think it would make a good redirect target. There was previously an article at Fag enabler, but that was speedily deleted as an attack page partway through an AfD, the content was entirely unsourced and consisted of a definition and a list of 5 people (all American religious figures) who allegedly met that definition. The AfD nominator stated they "Can't find any sources discussing the importance of the phrase itself - the only references I find are in relation to WBC's campaign", 13 and a half years later that still seems to be true. Pokemon character not mentioned at the target article. Utopes (talk / cont) 02:57, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Bundled the rest of these titles after leaving the following comment: "Bundle of other Pokemon character redirects without mentions at the target. After the removal of most/all gym leaders from the target, there are many misleading redirects that have been left as a result. I don't think it's possible to get through all of these in one go so this will only be a handful of possible egregious examples." Utopes (talk / cont) 04:04, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support โ€“ I cleaned this article out of all the non-notable cruft a while back, but never had the redirects deleted. This is good and necessary cleanup, thank you! ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 09:07, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
support deleting all, but maybe checking if the unova elite four could get something someday cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 11:00, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to List of Pokรฉmon anime characters. I've not checked every single one of these redirects, but those I spot checked are all mentioned there. Thryduulf (talk) 12:45, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i checked, and not all of them are there
but if they were and got retargeted, i would support cleaning that list up and bringing 95% of the redirects back to rfd anyway, as it's currently only barely less fancrufty than a nintendo direct reaction stream cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 13:36, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh boy, this is about to be a WP:TRAINWRECK isn't it? Will go through and figure out which appear in this alternate target and which don't, later, if someone else doesn't beat me to the punch. Lunamann ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ™ The Moooooooniest (talk) 14:36, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear holy gods, Convenient Discussions did NOT like trying to edit that comment, something about the formatting screwed it all up. Note to self: Never use Convenient Discussions to edit a comment with a collapsible, always edit manually, else you're going to pull the entirety of RtD into the collapsible. troutย Self-trout Lunamann ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ™ The Moooooooniest (talk) 16:54, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
holy fuckeroni
time for some notes from further research (totally not bulbapedia)
  • with the exception of caitlin, the unova elite four is missing from the list, and also the anime (i'm not counting cameos in gotcha)
  • there are two drakes. one is a hoenn elite four member, the other is an orange league gym leader, making the latter the true real drake from the anime
  • glacia wasn't in the anime, apparently. i actually think this one could be a disambiguation like glacia, as that's also glaceon's japanese name, and that one is an actual pokรฉmon, so it should logically have the (pokรฉmon) redirect... right?
  • for the subway bosses (really not sure why gen 5 loves them so much), ingo is kind of juggled between gen 5 media and legends: arkoos, so i don't know what to do with him
for all the others, retarget them for now, but still don't be surprised if they end up back here if that list is ever cleaned up cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 13:52, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to List of Bluey (2018 TV series) characters#Chilli Heeler. Jay ๐Ÿ’ฌ 03:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A redirect recently created at WP:AFC/R. This having a different target than Chilli dog may be confusing. While it might be expectable for Wikipedians that the "(dog)" indicates a modifier to the rest of the search term, I don't think this is necessarily an automatic assumption. And even if it was, Chilli is a real food item that can be served in a "dog variety" (i.e. as a chilli dog). I feel like there are several search terms that can be used to more-reliably reach the Bluey character, but something as vague as "dog" when hot dogs exist might not be that likely. The result of the discussion was retarget to Bingo. Jay ๐Ÿ’ฌ 03:13, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A redirect recently created at WP:AFC/R. There are several examples at Bingo for different dogs with this name, but it's not entirely clear whether this is the primary topic, especially given that many of the characters from Bluey are puns on pre-existing dog varieties.
