Although this may be thought of as a single activity, construction is actually a complex set of tasks that can take thousands of people to complete. Dozens upon dozens of design firms and contractors may be required for a complex project. Of course, numerous tradesmen, such as ironworkers, carpenters, laborers, electricians, plumbers, insulators, painters and others are required to physically build the project. The mission of the Wikiversity School of Construction is to educate the general public on what goes on in the construction world. It is all around us, yet many people have no idea what is involved in this industry beyond cranes and shovels. After taking the courses in this school, students should be able to understand the construction process from initial design to turnover, from foundations to the final polishing.
