From Old Northern French poque, poke (“bag, sack”), from Frankish *pokō (“pouch”), from Proto-Germanic *pukô (“bag, pouch”), from Proto-Indo-European *bewk-, *bew- (“to blow, swell”). Cognate with English pouch and pocket.
