Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰖𐰍𐰃 (yaɣï, enemy), Karakhanid يَغٖى (yaɣï̄, enemy); Kazakh жау (jau, enemy), Khakas чаа (çaa, war), Ottoman Turkish یاغی (yağı, stranger, enemy).
