[edit]Appears to be a nativisation of the Sino-Korean term 형 (兄, hyeong, “older brother”). From 시 (si) + 야 (-ya). Compare Southern dialectal 성 (seong) or Gyeongsang 히아 (hia), 힝 (hing).
