[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *h₁orsos (“bottom, arse”). Cognates include Old Armenian ոռ (oṙ), Old Irish err, Old English ærs (English arse, ass),[1] and perhaps Hittite 𒅈𒊏𒀸 (arraš). See also οὐρᾱ́ (ourā́, “tail”).
