[edit]French -aille has three sources:
- Latin -ālia, neuter plural of -ālis
- Latin -acula, neuter plural of -aculum
- Italian -aglia, as in canaille from Italian canaglia
Pronunciation

- (colloquial, derogatory or result) forms feminine nouns having a colloquial or pejorative meaning, or indicating the means or result of an action
- trouver (“to find”) + -aille → trouvaille (“lucky find”)
