[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Middle English Antecrist, from late Old English Antecrist, from Late Latin antichristus, from Ancient Greek ἀντίχριστος (antíkhristos). By surface analysis, anti- + Christ.
The modern spelling of the word is due to an effort to reflect the Latin etymon.
