[edit]- A maritime county of England bordered by the North Sea, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
Usage notes
[edit]Sometimes referred to simply as Durham, or more formally as the county of Durham, but never as Durham County or Durhamshire. The county town is also named Durham.
