[edit]Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish اسكندر (iskender), from Persian اسکندر (eskandar), from Arabic الْإِسْكَنْدَر (al-ʔiskandar), from Ancient Greek Ἀλέξανδρος (Aléxandros). Doublet of Aleksandër. Cognate with Turkish İskender and Azerbaijani İsgəndər.
