[edit]From Spanish abelmosco (“abelmosk”), from New Latin abelmoschus, from Arabic أَبُو المِسْك (ʔabū l-misk, “father of musk”) or حَبّ المِسْك (ḥabb al-misk, “grain of musk”), from both حَبّ (ḥabb, “grain”), from ح ب ب (ḥ b b) + and from مِسْك (misk), from Middle Persian [script needed] (mwšk' /mušk/, “musk”).
