[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آرتق (artık), from Proto-Turkic *artuk, a derivation of *art- (“to increase”). Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰺𐱃𐰸 (r¹t¹q̊¹ /artuq/, “more, much”).[1] Cognate with Azerbaijani artıq, Kazakh артық (artyq), Uzbek ortiq.
