[edit]From French brasque, from Vulgar Latin *brasica, from Proto-West Germanic *brasa, from Proto-Germanic *brasō, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰres- (“to burst, crack”); Related to Proto-Germanic *brestaną. Or, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰrewh₁- (“to seethe, boil”).
