[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish لطفاً (lutfen, “as a favor, as a kindness”),[1][2] from Arabic لُطْفًا (luṭfan), adverbial accusative of لُطْف (luṭf, “kindness, friendliness”).[3]
