[edit]Borrowed from French macle, which in turn derives either from Latin macula (from Italic)[1] or from Latin mascula (from Germanic).[2] See mascle for more.

- (mineralogy) Chiastolite; so called from the tessellated appearance of a cross-section.
- (mineralogy) A crystal having a similar tessellated appearance.
- (mineralogy) A twin crystal.
